Give Inventory....how to retrieve it?

I have a store in SL and I see that a friend sent me a Christmas item in inventory, but when I logged in, there was nothing there. My IM's get capped all the time, but would that stop the item from being offered to me?
Is there a way to find the offer anywhere? Or do I have to tell him to send it again?
Thanks in advance!

The item is most likely in your Objects folder or in a folder all by itself in the main window.

If you haven't logged out, go to your 'recent' tab and see if it shows up there for the quickest answer. Otherwise, it's hunt and search...

If they sent you a Christmas card that is just a texture, not on a prim, it may have gone to your texture or snapshots folders.

No, it's not. The inventory filters are more powerful than that.

Within the Inventory window, use the Show Filters menu item. This will bring up a filter panel along side the inventory panel. Near the bottom of the filter panel are places to enter a time restriction, either the most recent N hours or the most recent N days.

If you believe you received something in the last few days, simply keep upping the counter in that box until it show up or you're sure you've gone back far enough. (But don't be too sure - I've been on the verge of giving up and then tried a bit more out of frustration, and found what I wanted.)

It doesn't really matter whether you use the Recent Items tab or the All Items tab. As near as I can tell, the only real difference between the two tabs is their default filter, which you get with the Reset Filter menu item. Either way, there will be an indication in the title bar of any currently applied filters for the current tab. The filters are remembered within a session, so if you close the inventory window, and come back a little later, the filter will still be in effect. This can be confusing if you're doing a brand new search, so if the resuls seem really weird, check the title bar and reset the filters if necessary.

Check folders in case the present is in a floder, say, "Christmas Tree." It doesn't hurt to look in your Trash, either, in case it was refused for some reason.
