Does anyone know if its illegal or against SL Terms of Service to ebay your second life account? I'm getting ready to go on a military deployment so I need to close down my account, but I think I could make more money if I sell everything together on ebay instead of just breaking it down and selling the land piece by piece on here.

Yes it's illegal. Don't do it. The only people allowed to transfer accounts is LL and that only under extreme circumstances.
BTW, when you mean "close down my account," if you're Premium, you can downgrade to Basic and have a free account. If you're worried about it getting deleted by LL for whatever reason, I'd write them a letter explaining your deployment.
[Edit: If you are premium but won't be able to access SL where you are going, and you want to maintain your land, etc, I would DEFINITELY write to LL and explain. I did this with my Bally's membership and they put the account on hold; LL would have to be completely inhumane to not offer to put your premium account on hold.]

Well, for as much land as I own, I would hate to leave for a long period of time and not have my land cashed out. I could potentially lose a lot of money if the market drops out or something else happens to drop land prices.

As far as mainland land goes, if your land is in group, you just need to invite the buyer into the group as owner and then leave the group. All of the land is still owned by the group but the new owner has control. if you have a private island, that is a whole new ball game.

I would highly recommend phoning them if possible, so you can get this answered quickly. I don't imagine you have a ton of free time to wait around for an answer.
