I Need Some New Ideas On Animated Sculpties

Hello! I seem to be the only one actively making fluid animations for sculpties atm. Or maybe its cause nobody else knows how to. Well in any case, I've invented this process of making smooth animated sculpties. I use sculpties cause its low prim and I can bend them around.

So, I was wondering what kinds of things people would like to see in SL. Only thing is that so far its just a looped animation. I could create a script that can start and stop it. But i would need help with anything more than that. Animated animals is one of the things on my list. I get tired of seeing pets that follow with stiff legs. I've already created some nice animated wings that will be on sale soon :)

Anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate any ideas ;)

Animated animals definetly

The most realistic (and expensive) riding horse I have seen uses animated sculpties.

I dont know if they are as fluid as your technique (as I havn't seen yours yet) but they move well, look good and earn their creator large amounts of L$ for each sale.

Another idea - an animated sculptie dancing girl.

Go visit the Lollygaggers. Meet Balt and Rask. Then ideas such as urinating and projectile vomiting will occur to you. Also sewage over flow...

How about a blowtorch, or maybe a pressure washer?

btw i used
llSetTextureAnim (ANIM_ON | LOOP, ALL_SIDES, 16, 1, 0, 0, 20.0);
to animate the wings

Incidentally, flexi sculpties are promised Real Soon Now. That may add a dimension to the fun.

This is definetly the best way to animate a sculptie as its client side.

The only way I could think of to do client side sculptie animation is to make the sculpt map contain all the positions of the wing and use a texture to make all wing positions but one be alpha. Then use llSetTextureAnim so when it changes frame it makes a different part (representing a different wing position) be the non alpha part.

Is that how you do it ?

Yes that is how i animate it :) tho its not easy. There seems to be a flaw when using textures and alpha as frames because it leaves behind a line but i figured out a way to make that line virtually invisible ;)

I'm the owner of Dynamic Curtains. We sell flexi curtains that move in a very natural way, they also have the possibility to flap in the wind.. We also sell some sculpted curtains, but those are non-moving.

If you decide to make something out of this curtains idea, you can give me an IM inworld, might be interesting for both you and us.

sure thing :) Its actually next on my list since it would not be as hard to make as like say animals.

btw heres a video i made of my wings. It looks kinda choppy cause my computer isn't that good (7 years old) but everyone else I talked to says its perfectly smooth on theirs.
