I have 'bought' land from a private sim, but I still have access to this 512 from my premium account. My RL husband does too (Yeah, yeah...we're that discovery channel couple...remember? ) So, lets say I bought a plot on the mainland, and he bought the plot next to it. Could he build on both plots without any problems? Would he be charged more in land fees for having his stuff on 'someone elses' land? Is there a way to get around this? Maybe, start a group and deed each piece to the group and build from there? Yes, yes....I know I'm cheap.

You could even start a group, each donate 512 to it, and then buy a 1024 for the group (actually, 1120 with the 10% bonus), I think.

You probably want to start a group anyway, but it's not absolutely necessary to deed the land to that group in order to do what you're trying to do. Here are some options:
Option 0 (not recommended): Don't do anything with groups and just each own neighboring plots. In About Land / Options, enable All Residents to "Create Objects" and probably "Object Entry" and "Run Scripts", then periodically go to About Land / Objects, Refresh List, and return stuff belonging to griefers and random clumsy newbies. Keep Autoreturn off (set to 0). Disadvantages: Subject to littering and griefer prims between manual object returns, and no sharing of prim count between the parcels.
(Option 0a: same as Option 0, but toggle the "Create Objects", "Object Entry", and "Run Scripts" on only while you're working on each others' parcels. But not a real option because nobody will remember to toggle them off again. If one actually could, it would reduce the accumulation of prim detritus between manual returns.)
Option 1: Just *set* the parcels to group, not deed them; turn on Autoreturn. Make sure that you & hubby always have the group tag active when rezzing stuff (so Autoreturn doesn't bounce it back to your Lost & Found folder). Can set Create Object, Object Entry, Run Scripts to group only (although, with Autoreturn, it's usually best to just let those stay enabled for All Residents). Advantage: Stray prim litter goes away automatically so your parcel won't be griefer-central for the whole sim. Disadvantages: Still no sharing of prim count between parcels; cost of creating group.
Option 2: Deed the land to group and set Autoreturn and parcel Options, as for Option 1. Advantage: Prims can appear on either parcel and count toward the same total prim limit in the sim. Could even merge the parcels if desired, so settings apply to both at the same time. Can add 10% more land as "group tier bonus." As Option 1, no prim litter. Disadvantages: cost of creating group; a very few objects need to be group-deeded (such as media controllers and security systems); slightly more complex to set up initially and to split up land for sale later.

Qie's "option 2" is really the way to go. Some people even do that for their own parcels by creating a group with their alt(s). Enjoy!
