Heya, just wondering if people know that you muted them? Do they get a message saying I have muted them or not? Thanks

No, you don't get any notification. Your only clue might be if you're talking to someone who is clearly 'present' (ie: not AFK) and they're simply not replying to you. Likewise if you try to send them something and it's instantly declined (although the latter might be because they're in 'busy' mode).

"You have been muted by Ghosty Kips. La-la-la-la, he can't hear you."

"You have been muted by Ghosty Kips. La-la-la-la, he can't hear you." Sounds good to me. Oh, and when you mute someone, your avatar should go through a fingers-in-ears animation, too

I could stand a notification that I am about to mute someone. I seem to do it accidentally to people I wouldn't dream of muting. Of course the gray avatar clues me in now I guess, after the fait accompli.

Before you mute them, you could send them an IM telling them that you are muting them.

If I am muting them because I simply don't care to hear what they say then they are meaningless to me and my SL experience so why should I care if they know or don't know? On a side note I have noticed when I mute a resident with the Kirstens Viewer they do not turn grey, the are completly invisible. You can completely erase a person from your SL experience.

Great! Some of the people I mute would just get other people to grief me if they knew they had been muted.

I've muted very few people in the time i've played, which is bordering on 2 years now. Those couple of people i've muted I really couldnt care what they think of me or whether they know.
I did have 1 awkward moment though when somebody I muted turned out to work security at a place I sometimes went too and I had to explain I cant hear a word she says and dont care too, which was a bit embarassing and caused me to tick that box where you can see the chat of muted people in local. The result of which was I ticked the box again so I didn't have to read the rest.
