I'm really hoping someone can help me with this, as it's really starting to piss me off.
The TE kingdom I'm in has a crown in their tag. I can see the crown on my laptop, but not on my desktop. On my desktop, it's 3 little squares.
A host at the club I was last night used a gesture that came out several lines of little squares...I didn't even bother asking what it was supposed to be.
Just now, someone typed "heart you (alt-3?)" and it came across as "little square you".
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening and, more importantly, how I can fix it?

I don't have a clue why it's happening to you - but you can join my TE kingdom instead and get a tag that doesn't have a crown in it!  That would help fix part of the problem, right? Have you done all the recommended Windows updates on your desktop? Are you running XP on one system and Vista on the other?

Sounds as though your fonts may have become corrupted, HoneyBear. The symbols (heart, crowns, etc) tend to be in the Wingdings and Webdings fonts, so you might try re-downloading them from the Microsoft site.

or it could just be that you don't have unicode fonts installed on that machine... most of them come with language packs, some software preloads them
