crashing after logging in

i was hoping this problem wouldn't keep acuring after the newer viewers came out. but after logging on sorta wile after im rendering the world or after the world is done buffering i will not freeze but straight up crash
-quicktime and itunes updated
-opengl on and off (tried with and with out)
-cleared the cache thinking maybe corputed files
-play the game on the high preset
-happens on all viewers even the onrez
-the texture memory is set to 1028 (dont no if it should be 2056 or at 512 sense the card is a 2gpu 1 card)

-AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor
-ATI VisionTek 3870x2 1gig
-MSI K9A2 platinum 790 chip set
-Crucial Technology 1028x4 DDR2 dual channel 800mhz
-vista home premium 64bit

Where is the game installed? Which partition?
How much free space is left?
Where is the cache folder stored?
Which application is running beside of SL? Scanners, savers, checkers?

I always wonder about people who mpost for help and disapear LOL

usaly the other programs on are just me email myspace microsoft word sometimes youtube

Harddrive Check:

defragmentation?
HD health - Scandisk?
I recomment to install Sl and the cache onto another partition than System (C

Graphic Card Check:
-------------------------
Latest driver installed?
Use of any overclooking tools (Riva Tuner)?
Can you run other games without a crash?
Any Graphic Card Control Software running?

I advice you to download and install the tool TuneUp Utilities 2008 and run the "one click maintenance" to get rid of many problems inside the system and inside registry especially fals keys that have been double saved or cross saved and thse are often a reason for a crash too.

Try to completely uninstall the viewer and any other viewer you have. Completely start over instead of Running update.
And updating to the latest drivers is not always a good thing to do . Many cases users have had to revert back to an older driver to be able to run SL. ( I have had to do it )

I smell Crossfire in that graphics card description. Can anyone comment on whether there's still magic required to keep those configurations happy? (Very vague recollection that Texture Memory had to be halved... something like SL trying to use the sum of the cards' RAM... but this was some time ago and may have been fixed to only allocate the real memory available with Crossfire.)

Sometimes clearing cache isn't successful. You might have to delete it manually. It's safe to delete all the files in your SL cache. Just make sure it's the SL cache you're deleting

is the last viewer..it's very bad, never crashed before, but now with this new version i crash twice a day...grrr

i defrag once a month
about 168 gigs of free space
i do have the latest drivers
i use riva tunner to over clock the fan
i use CCC to OC both gpus
i can run any game even crysis no problems
i have manualy delete my cache
i have tried earlyer viewers

same problems on xp

Watch it, if it wraps. I loaded this last night on my hubby's computer and the crashing stopped.
