Does anyone know any programs which will edit a sound file to get past all of those annoying warnings which SL gives you when you try to upload a sound.
It's taking the mickey now. And on top of this, does anyone know any good sites which have sounds already ready for upload straight to SL (which meet all the criteria)
THANKS!

Goldwave, Fruityloops, and **Windows Sound Recorder** do just fine at transcoding audio to formats SL can recognize. It just has to be WAV or WMA at 44,100hz. And in some rare cases, with special headers removed. Also: www.sounddogs.com

Audacity is also a good, free tool for manipulating samples.

SL uses the following Audio format for sounds;
.wav PCM 44.100kHz, 8bit, Mono and must be under 10seconds long.
I believe you can also upload the same but in stereo, though it is converted to mono when uploaded.
Windows sound recorder can save in this format or be used to convert format, if your file is another format , like MP3 you need some other program to convert it to .wav .
I use Ease Audio Converter its a free conversion program that seems good at converting file types.

8-bit???????? Are you sure? Every audio sample I've ever uploaded was 10-second (max) 44.1khz 16-bit mono.

From: Alazarin Mondrian 8-bit???????? Are you sure? Every audio sample I've ever uploaded was 10-second (max) 44.1khz 16-bit mono. It definitely converts stereo into mono. Most sounds I upload are full CD-quality stereo but play back in SL as mono. It may convert 16-bity down to 8-bit as well, though that's harder to determine just by listening.

**Alazarin Mondrian --- 8-bit???????? Are you sure? Every audio sample I've ever uploaded was 10-second (max) 44.1khz 16-bit mono. ** Yup your right about that, below is the knowledge base entry, sorry I didnt get it right. Seems 16-bit wav's are fine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Select a .WAV file to upload. Valid files are any .WAV file in standard PCM format, 16-bit/44.1kHz/mono or stereo (which will be converted to mono), less than 10 seconds in length. Sounds cannot be formatted as MP3s or .WAVs in 8-bit, 22.05 kHz, or any other frequency. Sounds in other formats can be converted using third-party sound editing programs, such as r8brain. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
