Someone mumbled something at the Pooley sit-in yesterday about LL's plans to install gridwide traffic signals on each sim crossing to avoid avatar crashes.

How will they be mounted? And will we have protected left turns?

Someone mumbled

I think that says it all.

They started a program like this years ago but it seems to have been abandoned. I know that I have seen "CAUTION BRIDGE MAY BE VIRTUAL" signs before.

I don't know if I saw a sign like that I would have no clue what they were talking about...since the entire world in Second life is virtual.
It make more sense to have something like those ban lines but in different color that appears when you 2 meters next to it in yellow or something saying Sim Crossing.

I always keep an eye on my mini-map, especially when riding my horse. About 80% of the time, I can tell where sim borders are based on the slight differences in ground textures as displayed on the map. I was thinking a nice feature would be the option to show sim boundries in the mini map.

I like this idea, would be really cool if they installed that option, make it an option though, show sim crossing or turn them off... so could be off when not traveling and turn them on when you want to see them

:)

JIRA up something, I'll vote for it.

Why "protected left turns"? You do realise, of course, that not all the world drives on the right.

Here in the UK we drive on the left. Left is right, and Right is wrong. Right?

So what about roundabouts? Statistically they're safer than traditional intersections.

They should just fix it, period.
Why find solutions for other methods when they should just fix it altogether...

Providing you go around them the correct way :D

(I would have said 'go round them the right way' but that would just cause confusion and many accidents!)

The thought occurred to me as I was typing up my message. Now that I'm on my laptop (instead of my iPod), I might just do that.
