Well, it seems the place that I have been renting at, has decided to sell their air space; not sure how that is done. So no more sky boxes for the renters. Time to move on.
Has this happened to anyone else? I only rented the place to have a sky box to work in.

Will you now be monitored to keep objects with your name at a minmum? yikes I would run far away from that situation if I were you.

You can't sell airspace, only the land.
If you're renting on a private estate, the owner can restrict builds in whatever way she wants, including saying "no skyboxes". And she can rent out the airspace above parcels, as long as she has prims left on the estate.
But it sounds awfully goofy. I'd move.

"A airport has shown interest in the airspace over the xxxxxxxxxxx simulator. Those of you with skyboxes beware as you might have a large 747 smash into your skybox and kill everyone in the most violent way possible.
We don't want anyone to die a fire death, so either remove your skyboxes or beware of the airspace"
Being an American I found no humor in that statement.

Being an American I found no humor in that statement. It doesn't sound to me as if they are REQUIRING you to remove your skybox, just notifying you that there are going to be planes flying through. Me, I'd put up a huge red brick wall across my property, 90 degrees to the heading of the airport's runway, with the words "NO FLY ZONE. VIOLATORS WILL BE FIRED UPON". Just to be contrary.

Just to be contrary. That was my thoughts exactly. I'd put a home security orb and have it eject everyone that comes within 50m.

I like the brick wall idea, but I'd use a 100% alpha wall instead. That way I could see the action from where I was sitting, with my popcorn and a cold beverage -Atashi

Yeah, this is just silly. Since they're not actually requiring removal of the skyboxes (at least in that notice), it sounds like some drunken ape got to the Group Notice button while the real owners were Indisposed. Anyway, if the 747s aren't actual physical vehicles, they'll pass unnoticed through the skybox, and if they are (unlikely, unless it's a very undersold flight!) they'll just bounce off them, looking every bit as foolish as they are. But if the drunk monkeys are still running the Estate, now might be a good time to find other accommodations.

Even if it's real, I would expect the plane traffic to be minimal. Ignore it.

It looks to me as if it's either a) a prank message or b) the estate owner doesn't like sky builds, and is one of those strange people who feel the need to come up with over-elaborate reasons to justify the changes to zoning they want made.

Up to now I haven't had any problems with the estate owner; how is usually very good natured. Nor had any problems from the other resednts; no items crossing in to my lot, no griefing.
"b) the estate owner doesn't like sky builds, and is one of those strange people who feel the need to come up with over-elaborate reasons to justify the changes to zoning they want made." This is plausible. When I first put my sky box up, there where very few, now it seems there are several dozen, about 1 per lot. The owner did say they needed to be 700m or plus, but I see a lot of way low sky boxes; about as high as your usual freebie transporter will work. I'm waiting on a response from the owner, but am checking with others I know. Personally I would love a big open space, as these trailer lots are kinda small.

What would be fun is if the plans get caught in lag and start flying out to sea

Been building at 700m for a while, never had any problem with it; SL, yes, but not the hight.

Hi Manstan....I got the same notice about the airspace being "sold", so I'm assuming we're renting in the same sim. I liked the environment the sim offered, it was fun and different but realistically I only went there once a month to pay the rent and that was it, the funnest part was decorating my space when I first rented it. My main concern with this new airspace thing is the fact the sim is already one of the more laggy places I've been to, laggy on a regular basis, not just once in awhile....so will the airplane thing up above affect lag on the ground even more?

From: Bradley Bracken Isn't 700m too low? At least for running scripts and such? did you mean "too high"? in either case, i'm at 700-750. i have an indoor waterfall, flying parrots, some dragonflies, a sexgen bed, etc. and a helicopter i use to get to the ground (i'm old-fashioned). no problems with any scripts.
