IM in Local Chat window settings

In preferences I checked the box to show im's in local chat. When I unchecked the box, I STILL am getting im's in my local chat and frankly it is driving me nuts.

What setting am I missing?

I presume you click "apply." Does this happen even following a relog?

Laughs.. yes, I double checked to make sure I clicked apply. I cleared my caches, relogged, still getting it.

I believe I know what you are doing wrong.

Untick "Show IMs in chat console" NOT "Show IMs in local chat log."

I will check.. even uninstalling and reinstalling SL hasn't worked.

they disassociated that check box from the chat history window, however there is a debug setting that will give you the effect you want. (no I don't remember the name, I found it, switched it, and went on my merry way.

You're doing better than me. I have the exact opposite problem with viewer 1.23.4: Regardless of my settings, I *cannot* get IMs to show up in the local chat history window (Yes, I use the CoolSL viewer), and so I tend to miss a lot of IMs.
