I know the effects orbitting. I know you buy a gun or some attachment to carry out the orbitting. But how exactly does it work? In simple terms please. I imagined that a giant bat is rezzed and they hit you with it. But i don't think that's right.

The old orbit took advantage of an error in the havok system. I think it is no longer the case in Havok4 the current system.
But in general they worked either by hitting you with a rapidly spinning object or rezzing a physical object inside your AV and the system tries to resolve the collision by moving you. |

Aside from the two methods described, a "push" event can also be used, although it's not nearly as effective as no-push zones tend to negate the effect. _____________________

you may be better off asking the people in the scripting section of the forums about this if you are looking for the actual math of how it works..
i would think it has something to do with the amount of push or lining up the push from a prim but i don't know myself. i've been pushed into the millions of meters before where i see all these objects rezzing in my inventorys lost and found..so it may be that distance has something to do with something being rezzed in or on you ..i know it took a relog for it to stop.. _____________________

No I don't want to know how to make it.
![]() So it can only be done where rezzing or push is allowed? That's good. |

While you are not looking someone puts a cloth sack over your head, applies chloroform to you so you pass out, they drag you to florida, strap you into a saturn 5 rocket, light the fuse, and run away.

Old-style orbiters worked by a) pushing you upwards, or b) rezzing a cage around you, which then moved upwards, taking your avatar with it.
New-style ones can do it by dropping physical or rotating items, or mega prims, on top of your avatar so that the system has to move you upwards to resolve the paradox of two physical objects being on top of each others. Twisted spheres seem to be a popular choice. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because they have a lot of vertices around the centre, and thus create more conflict when SL is estimating how to resolve the paradox. |

what about no push weapons..i find these to be a bit more powerfull..but really give or take a few million meters up or down it really doesn't matter i guess..all but working in no push zones maybe..
i know i was working security for a club and accidentially lagged hitting a 50 meter radius weapon that emptied the club.. omg you never saw someone feel so bad..i tried to tp everyone back with a huge aorry then left and went home because i felt not worthy to be there that day anymore... lol _____________________

It's not a giant bat, it's a deep crow. Giant bats (flying dire foxes) don't have the lift-to-weight ratio to reach orbit by themselves, let alone while carrying an avatar. The deep crow's natural habitat is abandoned Trident missile bunkers, and they've developed the ability to use the radiation and readily available hypergolic fuel supply to get an amazing specific impulse from their natural digestive gases.

Only if you're orbiting a coconut.

Hmm, I haven't been orbitted in months, maybe a year. Do orbitters still really exist?

The correct pronunciation is "Deeeeeep Crooooooooow." _____________________
