I'm finding a whole lot of the slightly older objects are failing to rez or attach since windlight/new viewer... my things bought last week or so seem okay, but anything newer seems not to want to attach or rez..
yes i've cleared cache and restarted...
Any ideas??

this will because of asset servers, nothing else. are you trying to rez on a mega prim, if so try rezing on top of a normal prim. if it's not working now, it doesn't mean it won't work tomorrow and are you getting any messages with failed rezing if you are, what?

I found out about this problem too last week. All my objects that I've made and even bought let's say some 6 moths ago (and earlier) and that I didn't use for a couple of months don't rez anymore (other items that I kept on using are rezzing fine). In the last week I've tried to rez them in various ways: in my skybox, on groundlevel, in a public sandbox, with the SL-release candidate viewer, in the latest official SL-prog, on various occasions and on different times of the day, I even tried it by giving it to a friend and let him rez the ebject (same result as for me), nothing seems to work. Verry strange, I hope someone here has a solution for this one... .

What does the error message say? Is it something like "failed to rez object, try again" or is it more like "item missing from database"? These are two very different problems (and the latter is very much scarier than the former, if the numbers of these are increasing).

It Doesn't give any error mesage at all, if it's a not copyable item it leaves my inventory (when I try to rez it) and it re-appears in my inventory a few seconds later. It was the same case when my friend tried to rez it, also no error mesage at all... .

If you are getting no error message and the objects simply refuse to rez, then you are experiencing an issue that has affected many avatars since about a month or two ago. Go to JIRA #SVC-2129: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2129This is a nasty issue. About a quarter of the objects in my inventory have become permanently useless. Please consider voting for this JIRA. We have been trying to get an answer from LL about this for over a month. You should also submit a support ticket describing the details of what you are seeing. Don't expect any response right away, though. There is a huge backlog in the support portal. But the more tickets show up about this issue, the more likely that it will eventually get the Lindens' attention.

While you're at it, tell your friends to check their inventories for this problem if they haven't done so already. This is looking like a pretty widespread problem, but many avatars may not yet be aware of it since it seems to affect only somewhat older objects in the inventory.
