Every time the wireless signal drops I have to close and then restart Second Life (not exactly a speedy process). Really inconvenient re: classes, business and personal. Anyway around this?? Otherwise I may give in and go back to a land line based DSL service.

/me agrees with Annabelle and scratches his head over what type of wireless signal you might be using (hopefully not a neighbor's).

I persevered with wireless for too long. In the end, I relented, hard wired the PC to the cable modem and since then, no problems.

Apart from the ever-fascinating and myriad problems SL chooses to unleash on me and everyone else when it feels like it, that is.

Are you talking about the signal from a wireless router in the home, or one of those wireless internet cards through a cellular phone service? If it's a wireless router that's dropping signal a lot, that's a good sign it's time for a new router or one with greater range. If it's cellular phone service dropping calls, that's a complaint to take up with the company. Either way, yes, you have to log in again if SL detects you've disconnected from the grid.

* Second Life is not compatible with dial-up internet, satellite internet, and some wireless internet services.

If cable or DSL is available in your area, you would be far better off going that route with Second Life.

Okay- I was afraid of that.

To respond to Ty (hahaha) I am using free city municipality service and also more recently decided to join in with neighbors and share the cost of service one of them pays for. We are only a few apartments and thought it would be helpful. But what was I thinking? When one has cut out so has the other in most cases. Some days are GREAT - but others, like the last 2 days, really awful. Solar flares?? Anyway, now I have more info.

Thanks for the input, all~~
