Terraforming Problem

A couple of days ago, I discovered an issue with the slope of my land that needed to be corrected to make the foundation and basement of my house look better and to fill in a couple of ditches that I had not noticed before. I have never done any terraforming, but I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a shot. Needless to say, it is now a mangled mess that needs a serious overhaul.

I have a fully furnished house, basement, gazebo, pool, koi pond and landscaping already installed. Is it better to try to repair the land with these items in place or should I take up everything and start over? The pool, gazebo, and koi pond are not a big deal, and I know I've read here (somewhere) how to take up the entire house with contents to inventory, so would that be my best bet? Or is it possible to edit the land with these items in place? Easily edit, I should add, since I am a true beginner with that stuff. Thanks for any tips.

There's no problem editing the land with the things in place- in fact I recommend it if they are where you want them. If you raise the land too much so that the items are mostly or completely covered, they will likely be returned to your Lost and Found folder. If multiple objects get returned at the same time, they might get "coalesced" in your inventory, which isn't a big deal, but you need to know what to expect and how to recover from it. See this article for a full explanation:

Try working with the land only without the prims by holding: control + shift + alt + 9

you may need to move your items a tad bit but nothing too extreme I imagine.

Also, one thing to try Jagger is to select the patch you want to modify and then apply the action to the selected area... then use smooth to clean things up.

With a little practice you'll get the hang of it.. Having the items in there might make it easier becacuse you will be able to see what the final result will look like.
