How much for custom short men's hair ?

wait--- you want a comb-over?

The kind of hair I'm looking for (and have never seen) is old school, very short, with a part on the side and barely enough to comb over on top. About a month away from a Marine Corps cut ) If the price is good, I'm willing to pay for it, but I've never seen it in SL.

Steve, the closest I've seen to this are the skins at "Naughty," which have a nice close-cropped men's haircut painted on the head already. You can do prim hair on the top, but it's usually in a more modern "faux hawk." Unfortunately, as great as they are, those skins (often obtained as a stolen full-perm freebie) are on just about every male avatar you run into.

In my opinion there is a HUGE untapped market for better male skins with hair like that. Skin designers don't seem to understand that there are many male avatars out there who don't want to throw a prim mop-top on their head and go around looking like Prince Valiant, so we either go bald or use the Naughty skin.

With right tweaking you could easily do it in sliders.
If you got the patience to experiment with it. Problem though with longer hair if over the eyes it always looks weird whenever I do it.
I personally prefer limited attachable prims myself.

True, Avion. I'm quite happy with the skin I have already, so I'm a bit reluctant to get another. It's hard for me to believe that there are not enough male avatars to make this worth making. I'd pay a fair price for it. The hair in my avatar photo is what I'm wearing now, and it's the best I've found. It's nice but a tad too long for me. It's also in my eyes lol

I've played with the hair sliders and it looks ok, for a newbie male avatar. I prefer the attachable prims also.

on edit: No, no bald spot. Just envision a guy who has been out of the United States Marine Corps for one month: his hair is still very short, but now he has enough hair to comb over on top and form a part on the side. He has hair but not much.

Are you talking about a crew cut type style but with bald spot? Like from the 1920s like Larry, Mo and curry type of hair style they used but with layer of thin hair with layer of long hair?

I haven't done much yet with templates or hair yet but I am not sure what the restrictions for slider hair is like... I am sorry about bald spot comment I was confused confused.

Issue I see with hair style like that with prims is scalp might show through.
That is military crew cut.
Could possibly be photosourced and put on template or drawn by right person but I got no clue how yet or I would do it for the upload cost and the experience but I don't know how it could be pulled off as a attachment without problems that I faced trying to make certain type of prim clothing or teleportion issues. You lose the hair placement often. That why I don't mess with stuff like that much though I did do bathrobe sleeves recently.
Not sure if there is many good hair designers who would do this as custom job but you could ask around those who do make those things.

I am hoping that a designer with a little time on his or her hands will see this and make me an estimate. I"m sure the overwhelming majority of the market is for new style cuts.

Yeah I have wonder why other hair styles like haven't been out there.
But it does seem like between the sliders and products out there its only geared towards certain styles.
I have no clue if any of hairstyles on this site that I posted above could be reproduced in SL

I could try but the issue is I never done it before or even how to start. If I know exactly image wise if you could post it I could draw it out and see what I could do.
But I won't make any promises either way.

Actually the guy in this photo above, with a tad more hair on the sides and on top, is what I'm looking for. Just envision that man with about 2 more weeks worth of hair. If you want to tackle that and give me an estimate, I'm all ears *smile* (with no hair over them hehe)

You want this in prims or slider?
How fast does your hair grow you want it maybe inch longer?
I would need size of your head and image of your head where you want it on with uv suit like one Robin Sojourner made.
I just will do it for the challenge because I never done anything like this before and you just pay me what you can afford but there no promises I can do it.

FD, What Steve is wanting is is pretty specific, but I think there's a bigger issue of just plain ol' short "guy hair" that barely exists in SL. Long hair, which is done well with a prim wig, is cute if you're 19, but I think many of us who are a little further along in life than that (See the 1980s thread!) just want short hair!
