I am noticing more and more that no one is putting information on their vendors. There is no info on mod./copy/trans and houses seem to be missing prim counts or size. Am i the only one this bugs the beejeebers out of?

I don't buy as much as used to, but yes this bugs me. It's getting that way on SLX or whatever it's called also. I am also having a harder and harder time finding things in search. I'm not sure what is happening to merchants these days. It's like they don't care whether they sell or not.
Could be all the changes afoot. . _____________________

Are you sure the info really isn't there? I've gotten a few people that bought avatars from me and then asked if they could give it back to me or give it to someone else...when the vendor image shows that the perms are copy/mod/no trans. I designed my vendors to give clear and concise information on what the product is and what you can do with it, but I still get stuff like that happening. I've talked to other merchants with the same problem, it's like we can't win. I've even known vendors that basically have neon signs with relevant info, and there's still at least one customer that "didn't see it." Maybe some merchants are just giving up?
That said, I have seen ads that lack important info, and it does bug me. But usually my gripe is that the info doesn't match the product, not a lack of info in general. Saying something is mod when it actually isn't, and just has a resize script, for instance. Either way, I consider it sloppy and lacking in professionalism. |

You can almost always get the perms on items inside of vendors -- however, I absolutely hate things like houses not specifying the number of prims and the footprint.

In my case, my vendors send a note card if you want one. It gives the perms on it.. at least with my latest stuff it does. I'm kinda going through my older stuff and fixing them. I also have a sign in the store that has the perms on it.
I usually shop via XStreet when looking for something specific, so I usually have an idea of what the perms are supposed to be before going in world to buy. _____________________

Are you sure the info really isn't there? yes.. the entire store i was in last night sold skyboxes etc... described in detail the rolling up roof and textures, no prim count, no permissions... i dropped them a note letting them know especially on skyboxes where prims are usually slim, they should list how many prims it is.. it is just becoming huge pet peeve ![]() |

First, I want to say "hear hear". If the permissions aren't posted or I don't have some other way to tell them (like, the creator ALWAYS uses certain permissions), I'll rarely buy. If the object's got the wrong permissions I'll usually ask for a refund, even if it's copy.

I think you'll find there are a lot of new merchants flooding into the market both inworld and on xsl and they're not quite up with what customers expect nor take the time to actually investigate best practice/usability. But then I see people on xsl who have been selling structures for years and they still don't put the footprint nor the minimum plot size on the ad and their info notecards inworld are one line.. It's that "take it leave it" attitude that was sooo 2006 In a perfect world and all that.. ![]() _____________________

Even though that's part of the form you fill out when you list an item? o_O . but they're not mandatory and a lot people just skip them. Even getting people to put a picture up was a struggle until they made that mandatory. _____________________

Actually i have had a few that were inside another box... like i upack and have to unpack again... can't this give false info? Or am i smokin crack? *grinz )If they are packed inside another box, the best you can get are the perms of the box. First, I want to say "hear hear". If the permissions aren't posted or I don't have some other way to tell them (like, the creator ALWAYS uses certain permissions), I'll rarely buy. They always show up as no perm for me unless they're sale boxes and I'm looking at the buy menu. _____________________

See my previous post -- you can still get to the perms of the items that are in the contents of the display, regardless of the type of display. assuming of course it's not a networked vendor... then you are SoL one of my biggest gripes with for sale items (aside from those mentioned above) are vendors that don't list whether or not they contain sculpted items... because frankly there are things I buy that they're ok in, and there are things I'd prefer they not be a part of. I hate the trend of turning everything into a sculpt, and then tping into an area to see tons of grey blobs, or problems with LoD everywhere... and they still seem to rez slower than anything else which means trouble for my friends with lower end vid cards... not cool. _____________________

Perms should be posted on the image as should prim sizes, then even if using networked vendors people know the perms.
Another annoyance for me is networked vendors that don't have this info, the info is often in the hovertext but generally people want hovertext off! |

I see more and more venndors NOT stating the perms anywhere as well, which for me is a good reason not to buy those items. Some places sell all their items under the same permission, and state this on a billboard within the shop (this is usually the case with no-transfer items), which is a good alternative as well I think.
If I want an item really bad, provided it has the right perms, I'll send a notecard to the creator asking about the perms of item X and also telling them what perms I'm looking for myself. Most content creators are happy enough to make a version with different perms (don't expect copy/transfer though ) if their usual settings are the other way around, just to get a sale, or explain why they do not provide the perms I'm looking for.But generally, yes, I leave such stores, and the store lost a potential customer. (On one extreme occasion, I actually broke into a vendors' house and investigated the vendor servers for the perms on the item I was after, lol) |

assuming of course it's not a networked vendor... then you are SoL Also, if the vendor in question has multiple items in it, then each outfit/item/whatever will be in its own box and that box's permissions will not necessarily be the same as the actual outfit/item. This is why I prefer to buy from single item vendors/boxes if the permissions are not specified on the ad. _____________________
