I am so tired of waiting for some of the nicer dance establishments to rez and then dealing with lag. So, I am thinking about adding some dancing animations to my inventory, but I want ones for couples - like you find at the jazz clubs, etc. (salsa, ballroom, slow) but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Any suggestions?

For the most part, you will get what you pay for. Try Bits and Bobs, sometimes you can find their stuff in yardsales.

Have you seen the Menuet by Maar Auer? Everyone who comes to my ballroom loves it! If you would like to try it there is a link in my profile for the Riverboat, ballroom on 3rd deck.

The best couples Salsa by far (IMO), is found at Sexy Jesse's Animation & Pose and its called "Hot Salsa". I tried quite a few from another shop and bought a couple others before locating this one that I really wanted at Sexy Jesse's.
Bits & Bobs still rules for slow dances and they also have a ballroom dance. _____________________

Dirty and hot behind closed doors and just plain sexy everywhere else. Congratulations and shame on you."

I have the full set of Craig Altman's (Bits & Bobs) dances in my special dance machine at the Louis XV ballroom on Tin Teddy island.
The newest one, Slow Dance 7, is a masterpiece, the bit where you steal a kiss is awesome. All the dances are beautifully animated with huge attention to detail. If anyone fancies a dance at Tin Teddy - you are most welcome - the unique YavaScript dance machine means you can do any of the dances (even if someone is already doing the one you want) and you can do them ANYWHERE - on the balconies, on the veranda, even outside in the village if you want - anywhere! I have no vested interest in Bits & Bobs, btw, but would definately say that Craig is the 'Lord of the SL Dance' (he will so cringe when he sees that title, lol) (I hope you agree that I was very brave and cheeky making such a brazen shameless plug there - and I haven't apologised for it. Perhaps I am finally becoming a hard-headed business woman after all. Doh - I am not actually selling anything, the ballroom is of course free to use and its traffic does not count towards my store, hehe) _____________________

Hey your not really dancing! If you want to dance take lessons in RL! I find dancing in SL to be Most unsatifying! If I want to dance my RL partner is Fred Astaire! " |

Hmm. Is there any way to use something like a couples slow dance if you can't rez the poseball pair? These animations are commonly sold as a pair of linked poseballs, carefully positioned relative to each other so that the interactions look right. Plus the linkage allows the two animations to be synchronized with each other. But if you don't have build permission at a club, you can't use them.
I am aware of the Chimera and various other dance attachments that allow a single object to animate multiple avatars, but I'm only aware of that being used for single person dances. Synchronization is still possible, because there's one device controlling the people, but positioning isn't, at least not in the usual way, since you don't sit on the device to activate it. |

Sine Wave has released several couples dances that are excellent also. Pricy at 500 a pop but I'm planning on getting some.

I like most of the Bits & Bobs dances, as well as the new Sine Wave couples ones. I have a few random ones from various other locations, though none that I can remember off the top of my head.
I also really wished there was a way to do these dances when in a no-build area. There are so many times we are out at a beautiful location and I want to be able to dance right there. If you are in a place that will let you rez something, but has a really quick auto-return, could you still dance as long as you both 'sat on' the pose balls before the auto-return time? _____________________

If you are in a place that will let you rez something, but has a really quick auto-return, could you still dance as long as you both 'sat on' the pose balls before the auto-return time? Some couples dances work if you put them in a Hugger HUD. Some don't though, and you can't tell which will and which won't until after you have bought the poseballs and then broken them open for testing in the HUD. The importance of the poseballs is to keep the avatars centered so that the two animations that make up the dance line up well between the avatars (and some poseballs have helpful features such as a sync script). So you could start the animation on the poseballs, and the animation will continue once the poseballs are autoreturned (assuming the animations are looping). But without the poseballs, it will be very easy for either partner to get knocked out of alignment, and there is no sync possibility. In addition to sims that allow rezzing to anyone, there are others that allow rezzing to those belonging to the Group. When you check out "About Land" on a parcel, you can check to see if it is set to a group that you can join, and then check to see if object creation is allowed to group members. If those are true, join the group and then you can rez objects. |
