Disable auto preview with texture upload

This question was originally posted in another section, but it probably belongs here:

Is it possible to turn off the functionality that automatically opens textures and images when uploading? Often, I'm bulk uploading dozens of textures at the same time and it's a real pain having all those windows open up and then having to close them all. I also assume that all those textures being loaded can cause undue strain on the sim. Maybe there's an option in the debug settings?

Thanks!

I'm puzzled. What I posted on the other thread:
"Try unchecking edit/preferences/popups/"automatically view after accepting"

didn't work for you?

I'm actually trying to figure out how to enable previews, is there a way?

I found some really good clothing tutorials online (http://nicolaescher.com/tutorials/creating-your-first-shirt.php)

and it mentions this:

---
Beginning with version 1.3, Second Life allows you to preview you custom clothing textures on a default model before you upload them. You can even zoom in and rotate the model to make sure you texture. This can be very helpful with complex textures with seams and patterns that need to line up across sleeves and shoulders.
---

But in my case, unless I'm doing it wrong.. it uploads and charges me the L$10 and then just shows in a window what I uploaded.

Is there a way to have it preview textures on a default model?

Thanks

Nidania:

the texture you are uploading will come up and the box where you click to ok it, if you look right above the pic of the texture, there is a drop down menu and you can select which body part it goes on. Then you can preview it there, if it doesn't look good, you just don't ok the upload.

by the way make sure you are clicking 'upload image' and not 'bulk upload' because bulk upload doesn't let you preview

Keep in mind that the model used for that isn't completely true to the avatar form. So, you might even consider testing a texture for clothing on the beta grid.

thanks, I researched the forum for info on the beta grid, but some info was old.. do I need to download a special client, or does this info that I found work:

--------------------------------------
You can also log in without downloading the beta client. What you need to do is to add the command line parameter to choose the Aditi grid.

On Windows, what you do is create a new shortcut to Second Life. Then add the following to the command line for the shortcut (those are copied from the shortcut for the beta viewer):

--aditi -helperuri http://preview-aditi.secondlife.com/helpers/ -settings settings_beta.xml

Voila, you're in, and with a more up to date viewer than the current beta grid one, and without having to wait for a big download.

You can download a separate client (under downloads/beta) or you can use the main and do CTRL-SHIFT-G at the login. That will bring up a drop-down list of grids that you can chose from. The common beta grid is Aditi and the main grid is Agni.
