I think it makes you download the new one when you log in anyway so its pointless to install an old one.

I can still run 18.5.3.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/Second_Life_1-18-5-3_Setup.exe I assume it'll work if she changes the version number to the one she actually wants. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

Gillian, I have still the installer and can email it to your friend if she needs it. It's for 18.5.3 which I myself am still using.

I have the 1.19.0 installed still and it doesn't prompt for an upgrade... complete with broken friends list.....

http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-18-5-3_Setup.exe http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-18-4-3_Setup.exe http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second%20Life%201-18-3-5%20Setup.exe http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second%20Life%201-18-2-1%20Setup.exe Those are all the official viewers that should still be able to connect to the grid. LL did announce that they're planning to turn off the ability for the 1.18.x series to connect to the grid still when 1.19.1 gets released though (which happened today) so the first link probably is the only real choice for the near future. (Other - older - third-party viewers may still be able to connect to the grid since LL's choices on what to support don't affect those, but I don't use those so someone else will have to chime in on that ) |

Do people actually hunt down their old installation files and delete them?
When you go the download site and there's a link to download an installer, the url for the download looks somewhat like this: http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-19-1-4_Setup.exe Take off the last two parts of that url, the extension exe and the filename Second_Life_1-19-1-4_Setup and put the first part that's left that in the address bar of your browser and press enter. This give you http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com in the address bar. Pressing enter displays a page that on some browsers looks somthing like this: -<Contents> <Key>Second Life 1-17-3-0 Setup.exe <LastModified>2007-07-06T00:35:39.000Z <ETag>"3e9c7bd171a30d3958809c86a606bdf9" <Size>32508022 <StorageClass>STANDARD </Contents> − <Contents> <Key>Second Life 1-17-3-1 Setup.exe <LastModified>2007-07-09T23:13:22.000Z <ETag>"eda341769763a047753d5c63a9705be9" <Size>32527590 <StorageClass>STANDARD </Contents> − <Contents> <Key>Second Life 1-18-0-5 Setup.exe <LastModified>2007-07-11T01:06:21.000Z <ETag>"7c2587a1f010ab66f70d6b652d6381a4" <Size>32519593 <StorageClass>STANDARD </Contents> The lines like this: "<Key>Second Life 1-18-0-5 Setup.exe" show the versions of SL that you can still find there. The current (brand new) version has an url of http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-19-1-4_Setup.exe Change the version number 1-19-1-4 to the old one that you want, like maybe 1-18-2-1 http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-18-2-1_Setup.exe And you should be able to download the file. The link that Ann gave is for a version that a number of people have reported they are still using in the past months. I picked an older one as my example, about which I know nothing. I don't recall the version number of the one that just got replaced. _____________________
