Has anyone used this third party company for purchasing Lindens?

Never heard of it but you may want to read the TOS, there is a great risk of using a 3rd part to purchase and sell L$

There is nothing against buying/selling/trading of lindens. In fact it is sort of encouraged. It keeps L$ a legitimate form of currency for global business transactions.

Sorry, Honey, I have not used them before so I have no opinion on them.

Umm?
Why do people insist on feeding false information?
There was a blog post announcing this... as soon as I have some time to do a search for it I will post it here.

Yes, but depends where did they get those lindens. If they make super special offers like get 10.000 for 10 bucks...then for sure that is a scam and LL will take that mane from your account and even ban you for a while.

Ahh luckily it was a simple search :)

You therefore purchase these third party L$ at your own risk: if they are discovered to be fraudulent — in effect phony — we will recoup them from your account.

Thanks Sensual and all.

It's a really difficult spot I'm in because I'm spending about $500USD a month. By the time LL adds on their fees, I'm spending well over $50USD in fees. Totally sucks :/

Well it isn't against the TOS to buy from a 3rd party but you are at RISK and they clearly state they can and will take the L$ from you should their be anything fraudulent with you or the party you purchased them from.

So I guess just be very careful and make sure it is someone/some place you trust.

I have used SL Exchange before. You can get a better rate from them with less fees and they are very reputible.

Yes, there is always the risk. The more you try to save a penny and go with unknown people, the greater the risk. But then there is always the risk if buy an item in game all you get is an empty box. The seller is under no obligation to do anything at all and can just keep your money.

Buyer, beware. It's the economical foundation of SL.

Apparently you don't understand the risk.
It's not nearly the same.

You can buy $500 USD worth of L$ and LL CAN and WILL take it from you and possibly suspend or ban your account if they suspect fraud vs buy an outfit for L$150 that ends up looking like crap or as you say, an empty box.

Yes, I understand. I really do. Down 5K lindens and a 2 week ban. Now look for any of the land scam threads recently and you will see where people have lost a couple of magnitudes more than that with zero chance of a recovery. No actions taken against the offenders.

Yes, there is risk in every transaction you make. Some are greater than others. I could, for example, take some screen shots of some of my high end clothes, put the textures on a box with nothing else listed. Drop this into a sripted vendor where all the buyer would see is the Pay button. And then sell them a copy of that picture for 500L$. Hey, I'm selling SL art. It's a scam in every possible way but it is completely with in the rules. The risk of running across a scam like this is pretty low. The word gets out, no one will buy from it and the mall owners don't want to ruin their name by being associated with it.

Buying lindens from SLX has about the same risk as buying an outfit in game. Cost is ilrelavent. Just whether or not you are going to get what you expected.

Buying lindens from from an unknown source is a much, much higher risk. Thus, Honeybear asked for opinions. She already knows about SLX, but is looking for a cheaper place to buy. The risk is very high and she is hoping to reduce it by asking if anyone she trusts can vouch for the new site.

I really don't see how all this got to be such an argument between us. We agree there is a risk you can lose it all with no recourse for recovery. We agree it is not against the TOS. Maybe it's just because we have different views on risk asessment.
