Check the corners and edges of your screen to make sure it hasn't accidentally been dragged from view.

Try makeing the window you run SL on a true window on your screen that you can move.
Our objective is to make SL a resizeable window that you can move the edge to find things lost off screen.
Edit > Preferences > graphics.
Check the box to allow SL to run in a window.
Check to see if you can move the window that SL is running in by clicking and hold on the bar at the top of the SL window and try to move it.
IF you can move the window your ready for the next step.
Click and hold the mouse button and move the window to one side of your screen.
Then click on the edge and drag the view in the opposite direction to make it bigger. (your making the actual window that sl is running in much bigger than your actual monitor screen size)
You might have to try it several different directions untill you find your edit box.
Move the edit box to the center of the window you have displayed.
Close the edit box.
Double click the bar at the top to maximize SL to your screen. (will fit SL to the monitor size)
Now when you open your edit box and it should be in the center of your screen.
good luck!
