Paying tier with your Lindens?

I'm sorry if this is common knowledge to everyone else, but...

Is there any way I can have my tier payments and yearly premium membership charges be taken from my in world Linden account instead of using a credit card?

Hi Royce,

You need to visit the LindeX Page on the website and sell your L$ for real money. The real money will go into your SL US$ account, and this will then be used to pay your tier and membership fees. Once you have US$ in your SL account, you don't need to do anything else to have this happen.

Oh cool. That sounds pretty easy. So, I have heard horror stories of people "cashing out" on Lindens....like...having their accounts frozen and stuff. Does this only happen if you go through a 3rd party source like pay pal or something?

That CAN happen, if the Lindens see something in your account activity that looks suspicious to them...generally transfers of large amounts from one avatar to another, which may be perceived as a money laundering attempt, or gambling activity.

But it's never happened to me, and I have transferred, at times, amounts in excess of $1,000 US.

I routinely sell $L on the Lindex to put US$ in my account to pay tier. Some of that comes from in world business transactions. Some comes from money that I've sent from PayPal to XStreet, and converted to L$ there. I like buying L$ on XStreet; you can often get a slightly better rate...and a mass pay transfer from PayPal only costs $1.00.
