so...

finally managed to bring closure to my failed business when i had to bail SL for real life(still prolly a few angry people but they got their money back plus some extra)

now i`ve hit a snag, i`m bored heh

As i`ll be damned to bring the business i had befor back and have people depend on me with their money, i was thinking to just stick to free community projects
had some ideas but only a few remained, now just looking for the general input about them or fresh ideas that could fill a missing hole

most of my scripting expirience lies with offworld communication so i`m sticking to it for now


1. Land listing site - able people to post their plots, mainland or island, with all relevant info (sqm, price, prim bonus, rental, etc etc etc) and be able to search and see a snapshot that could be uploaded
drawback, i have no server besides for creating it and testing at home

2. peronal shop - take a popular (or not) easy managable web shop and modify it for use with SL, abit like slx/onrez with your own delivery box but with your own payment terminal and website with basket

3. that`s where it stopped and ask here



the abouve is just for another project, on the table still is to strip my old tier system from the package i had for stand alone self hosting aswell as the advert system, this requires a crapload of work tho so don`t expect it too soon on the wiki

for the community project, i`ll pick the most needed thing, everything once completed will endup on the SL wiki to make life easier for distribution

ok, i`ll refrase it to a simple question

what would people want to see as a freebie/open source

1. website where every one can add their parcel for sale with all the info to look at and search by all criterias (sqm, price, buy, rental etc)

2. personal web shop for your store that works with your own terminal and delivery box (similar as slx working and normal online webshop, just abit simpler).

3. some other idea



basicly i`m trying to find something to do, something new to start and wanted by people so i don`t waste my time with another mothball project that ends up dusting in a backup file in a sub sub sub dir on my hdd

I would love to have a website that could be mine (not just another number in the midst like slex and onrez) but one that would be specific to me

if that makes sense hehe

I have thought about making a website for my store, with links on each item to the listing on slex, onrez and in world (slex and onrez if they are added, and if not, then added to the webpage when added to the slex and onrez)

at first it would be just your own store with a basket system like current online stores, only difference would be when checking out, people would go to your own terminal to pay (no debit permissions with that) and once payed, your own delivery box would send all purchased items to them, all hosted on your own website and everything open source

maybe later on, add a paypal option but on that note i must say i have 0 knowladge on how to track paypal payments trough their api at this time but something i`m interrested to get the hang of after finding a use for it

I'd say an independent place to sell your land is also a good idea...but I'm not sure about how you could make sure there are no scammers. I don't think another place like SLEx or OnRez is needed.

nothing can be done but remove scammers, idea was to make a place where people can just list their land for others to search and look from there as the only place atm are forums, wich is a spam mess

the shop is for people to host for them self along with a payment and delivery system that work like vendors/slx/onrez (pay a prim and another prim delivers) but the ability to shop with a browser on your own website (personal sl web shop)

or any other ideas some one might have that would be usefull

How about a website that you could put in your profile web tab that shows pictures and a place for some text. Sort of like snapzilla but maybe more options.

that could be a later project but after several queries for it, i`ll go with the web shop, with my main concern out of play of having to host any software myself when done

will be writing it myself as all shops are way way to extensive for sl usage along with modifying directory permissions until a simple database creation script, add the sql info and be done with it
