OK I know this is old history *'Missing Linden/Group Liabilities*
I had this happen to me a while ago... and I didn't even know it. A friend of mine pointed it out to me and she made some funny blogs of it too (on SLprofiles)... called me a 'Shady Landlady'... lol. I soon sorted it out... it was only a teeny amount too. Hardly likely to take over SL with the amount I was getting from them! lmao.
Anyway.... if you do need to then do please read on...
Group Liability...... What is it and what happened to my Linden, and also of some concern- did it also take it from the others in my Group?
You get this when the group has been deeded land and that land is set to Show In Search (L$30/week) checked..
THIS CAN BE A CRITICAL ITEM.... ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN AND THEN SELL THE LAND AS THE MONEY WILL BE SPLIT AMONGST EVERYONE ON THE LIST!!
The simplest way of telling you this information is to look at this video clip by Torley Linden
http://vidtuts.s3.amazonaws.com/What-is-a-group-liability.mp4This is a quicktime clip (.mp4)
Or if you can't view it then read the following...
To find one of these Group Liability settings do the following:
Go to About Land and IF the Show Place in Search ($L30/week) is checked you will be charged. If this tab is selected uncheck it, if you do not want to have your place shown in a Search then you wont get any Linden taken from you.
This liability charge WILL get charged to YOU if you are on the list. To check to see who is on this list do the following:
IF IT IS GROUP OWNED LAND AND YOU ARE PAYING LIABILITIES (you may need to have the correct permissions to do this)
Go to 'About Land' and click the 'General Tab' then 'Look for Owner' (if Group Owned) click on the 'INFO Button' (to the right)
The info button will bring up more details for you about the Group
In the Group info window use the 'Members & Roles Tab':
Under this tab click the 'Abilities Tab':
This will show a list of what members can/cannot do, scroll down to Accounting (pay Group Liabilities and recieve Group Dividends) It will then give you information as to what happens with regard to Group Liabilities. As said before IT IS SET TO DEFAULT (everyone
pays!)
To turn off Group Liability Ability (to ensure that certain members do not get charged) do the following:
Go to Members & RolesTab (if you have the necessary permissions to do this)
Then go to the Roles Tab and then Highlight the lists shown; ie 'Everyone' (other lists may be shown as Officers and Owners) then scroll down to the box that says Allowed Abilities and scroll down to Accounting. IF the box is checked... uncheck it to stop people from paying the Group Liability.
CLICK APPLY FOR THE SETTINGS TO TAKE PLACE.
It will not happen straight away as any Linden will be taken from your account on a weekly basis, so you will have to wait until the following week to see if any changes have been applied.
Also you can check to see if any other Group Liabilities are being paid by you by doing the following. Go to your account on secondlife.com/account and look up your Transaction History. Set your search to show what details are needed... ie set for a search to cover the past month, also set it to not show 'zero' transactions (freebie items = 0 )
Then check the list to see if any groups you are in are listed with the payments that have been taken from your account for any Group Liabilities.
If you have had any Linden taken from your account then contact these group owners. Ask them to remove you from these lists and to refund any Linden taken from your account. They may not even realise this is on as it is set as a default. Or you can simply leave the Group and you won't get charged any more. It may only be a small amount but if it is set on all the groups you may be in it may soon add up to a big amount and you could find that you are showing a negative amount on your Linden balance.
