Hello,
I'm having great problems trying to set up Voice Chat, and don't see the white orb above me.
Can anyone explain in simple terms how to successfully configure it?
I'm on Vista, and have no problems with other apps using the mic.
Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure what could be going wrong. All I had to do was plug the mic in. Then go to Edit -> Preferences. Click on Voice Chat, check the box 'Enable Voice Chat'. I checked the boxes about toggle mode too, because I want to choose when people hear me, not have everyone hear me coughing away lol.

Check off the 'enable voice chat' on first line.
Check off either of the next two preferences but I prefer 'hear voice chat from camera position.'
"Start viewer in push to talk mode'
Middle mouse
I don't recall running the voice wizard but maybe I did.
Click apply then ok.
These are my settings and they work fine for me.
When you want to talk to someone in private chat send them a request or they'll send you one then when it's accepted you click on the little 'talk' button on bottom right, it's over 'Map.' Make sure it lights up showing you a green light around the 'talk' button.
Also, raise the volume over the persons name either on the chat box itself or click the small circle right next to the talk button. It will bring up a menu showing the name/s of people near you who are in voice. Click right on top of this box to stop the names from moving up and down. Then click on the name of person you want to hear to raise her volume with the slider on their name.
Use voice, it's a lot better then typing. Some fear voice, they believe it bites.
Don't know if Vista is any different.

ok I had to get a new sound card for me to be able to chat. I had the same problem. Course my computer was older. But with all the new parts in it lately I call it new lol.
