Ok, now on the mini-map, as far as I know, everything in blue is my stuff, dark areas are other people's stuff and the rest is empty land. Now, looking at my mini-map, there is a HUGE overlap of dark area onto my property, but I can't find the invading prims anywhere? Am I wrong about this dark area thing? And if I'm NOT wrong, how the heck do I find the overlapping stuff? I tried highlighting transparent, tried beacons on for scripts and physical...no luck.. even flew up to around 1500 m and couldn't find anything. It's making me batty :-/ Anyone have any clue about this?

I think the minimap sometimes paints dark the areas that would be covered by the *void* parts of a prim--that is, the parts that have been "cut" or "dimpled" away from the prim. If that's the case, the prim isn't actually encroaching on your land, but the mini-map doesn't quite know that. (On the other hand, since it's "huge," if there are no megaprims in neighboring builds then it's probably Something Else.)

Thanks Qie. I found that some of the dark are trees coming into my property. No biggie.. I like trees
I also looked around and sure enough.. its a Megaprim :-/ My neighbor positioned it so the clear part of it extends into my property. At least its phantomed... |

I'd be wary. That 'clear part' of the megaprim on your land could still cause problems for you, even if the prim is phantom.

I have something like this going on. The cyan color for my build on the mini-map appears and disappears in places as I move about my land. I think there may be a mega-prim in the build next door somehow causing this. If that's all it does, I don't mind - in fact I find the cyan color distracting and wish I could turn it off entirely. I can't easily see the green dots and v's of approaching avatars against it. I haven't found a preference setting where I could change this to some other color.

Oh, the mini-map! What trouble it has caused me. :/
I've had the land owners next door yelling at me (banning me too!) because they said that my objects were overlapping on their land. They got this idea on what they saw on the mini-map. They really became hostile. I had spent a lot of time making sure that I built within my land boundries, always building on the ground, staying within my lands limits, making sure I was within those limits (plus some!). I couldn't understand what it was they were complaining about. Finally, I put up a whisper-thin fence along the entire border of my land just to see where (if anywhere) I was overlapping my neighbor. I raised and lowered the position of that fence 10m up at a time, bit by bit, and found that not even a leaf of a tree was going beyond that fence-line. I showed my neighbor(s) this and they (finally) agreed that I was not overlapping. My neighbor *thinks* it is was his skybox that perhaps is skewing his mini-map results. But he isn't sure. :/ |

Things that are below the water level are a darker color
Also the things on the mini map aren't as large as it makes them look {: Illustration: ![]() http://flickr.com/photos/day-oh/2103108707/ It's taken from directly above... _____________________

hehe. No - I'm genuinely curious ![]() I think Ceera might be referring to things being hard to place near them (could be wrong about that). Also, even when phantom they can still send you sky high and floating sometimes. That's not too likely with a 20x20x.02 ... but try it with a 100x100. I hope Havok can handle 20x20 ... I find that so useful esp for ground features with a hollow. I am sure I'll be able to remake the dance floor at my beach with 10x10s hollowed and correctly chopped but it's just not the same as having a neat hole in a 20x20 ![]() _____________________

Thanks Cherry. I haven't come across effects like that, but then I only use sizes at the small end of the scale, although I very briefly rezzed a sim-sized one ages ago, out of curiosity.

Also, you can hover above your land and right-click on your land and select "About Land..." in the pie menu. On the Objects tab on the box that comes up it will show you how many prims are allowed on your land, how many prims you currently have there, and how many prims someone else has left there. You can click the "Show" button and see all of your prims or all of someone else's prims. When you click the Show button, all of the prims will turn bright white on your property. So, if you select the Show button next to the prims that others own, they'll all turn bright white so you can see any prims on your property that someone else owns.
I hope this helps. |

Does anyone know what it means when the area on the mini map turns red? Does this mean the sim is going offline?

Does anyone know what it means when the area on the mini map turns red? Does this mean the sim is going offline? It means your client lost connection to the specific sim/server. This could be your side (network down) or LL's side (sim being down). _____________________

hehe. No - I'm genuinely curious ![]() Phil, I had one blocking my sky space recently. It was the oddest thing. I would fly up and suddenly hit an invisible ceiling. I had to fly past my neighbors parcel to get around it and come back. I could walk all over top of it, my feet cast a shadow on it, yet it wasn't there. I didn't appreciate not being able to fly straight up on my own land. Other than that I couldn't say it was causing any "problems" I couldn't get ahold of the owner so I AR'd them and it was gone in days. _____________________
