hi!

I am looking for a reputable newbie center or individual. I have a rather large box of clothing and such I'd like to give away, but I'm afraid that if I just give it to any ol' person it'll end up being sold off, which would defeat the purpose. (clothing from places like Artilleri, Rummage, WRONG, Torrid ect ect)

A point in the right direction would be great.

The NCI freebie wall is a great way to get freebies out. Items in that service are also included in the Help Island freebie node and Oxbridge Villiage just outside the Oxbridge University community entry portal. Contact Blu Lazlo. (I think I spelled it right) (^_^)

Also, check out Sarah Nerd's freebies and GNUbies.

The Shelter is still around, at Isabel 57, 232, 79. I remember it fondly, because that is where I hung out when I was a newbie. And it offers freebie stuff. Give it a shot.

You also may want to check here.

Just do a search, or if anyone else here knows. My apologizes, not in world to pass it along.

Some unscrupulous persons will obtain copies and sell them, regardless of what you do. I would suggest NCI as one place to arrange a donation, and you could also send it to the Second Life Mentors group who maintain and give away "newbie gift boxes".

I think I know what you mean. No copy/Transfer type clothing from shops around SL? I haven't heard of any place where they give things like that away. I give my old transferrable stuff to my alts.

If it's not full perm then places like Sarah Nerd or Yadni aren't going to benefit beyond the few people who take the items.

Maybe search for a resale or yard sale event or place that benefits charity. Even if it benefits SL in some charitable (non profit) way.

Hi, we at Virtual Ability are always happy to get full perm items that we can give to our disabled newbies. Please contact Gentle Heron, inworld, tell her I responded to your post on the forum and referred you to her. We do occasionally have yard sales, (yard giveaways, not sales, lol) but have a very comprehensive orientation course (we are an Open Gateway for disabled newbies to SL) and use lots of freebies. Thanks for trying to do something useful with your stuff.

We are a rl non-profit and you can refer to www.virtualability.org for further info.

I'd go with the NCI Freebie Wall suggestion. On a side note, I get the impression that you're copying t-shirts from your real-life collection into SL for this (correct me if I'm wrong). If this is the case, you probably should check with the copyright holders before doing that.

Treasure: I am learning to make things and I would be pleased to donate things to your sim. I also have full perm things I can pass to you. What types of things do you want or need for this purpose? Thanks.

Hi, I am also looking for freebies for my newbie sim. Here's the info:

Are you a designer looking to reach potential customers? Solace Beach is looking for quality freebies for our newbies! We have the largest permanent treasure hunt area in SL, as well as our own official Orientation sim where new registrants to SL can choose to log in for the first time. Your freebie (and landmark) will reach hundreds if not thousands of newbies every week.

Freebie requirements & rules:

* Items should be of decent quality, and appealing to new residents. Clothing for both sexes, skin, hair, shapes, furry avs, AOs, and other avatar customization stuff will be most popular. Small prefabs (for 512 and 1024), plants vehicles, etc. are fine too.
* You are welcome to include your landmark and/or notecards about your business.

To place your freebie:
* The very best way is for you to send me your freebie with full perms and let me place it. I know that this means trusting me with your full perm item, but I can assure you, I will set it to no transfer unless you want it full perm. I don't want to upset any designers by circulating their full perm stuff! Doing this will allow your freebie to be placed anywhere, without risk of it accidentally getting returned.
*If you absolutely are unwilling to let me place the freebie, I can let you place it. However, there is only one area where it can go. I will do my best to never return it, but I can't promise I won't forget. If that happens you'll have to come set it down again. I can possibly do group invites but it will be on a time available basis.
*Freebies can stay permanently. This is not a limited time hunt. If you want to change your freebie periodically, or add another one, that is fine too.

Link Exchange:
* I request, but do not absolutely require, that in exchange for placing your freebie, you post a sign for either the treasure hunt or my land business somewhere visible in your shop. The signs are tasteful and I will send you a full perm one so you can resize as needed. I expect a lot of responses to this call for freebies, so priority will be given to those willing to place a sign.

Please IM me in world if you are interested in participating!

Hi, and, thank you! we accept everything but honestly probably use clothes more than furniture, simply because they're newbies, don't have land, don't have houses, etc. Hair would be nice, I have only seen one or two trans hairs around, most are no trans. Guy stuff always very welcome and needed. I have friends on the forums here, who have donated shapes (I don't know if it's ok to say names so won't, but we are very grateful for things like shapes, skins, hair). Our newbies get a lot of freebies at the end of our orientation course, and throughout here and there, as well. And they know they can always come back any time and say hey, I need........whatever and we will try to find it somewhere in our stash. We've had folks obtain land, and ask for furniture but mostly our newbies need what most other newbies need, skin, shape, hair, clothes. Again, thank you for even considering us!
