How do you get them to actually face the same direction you're facing, when you "Create Landmark"?

I have a few that did that, but now I've been fussying around and I can't get it to stop turning around.

I hate to break the bad news, but I had this problem a while back and never found a solution.

Hopefully you may have better luck.

Ditto. I cannot get them to work the same way they did a month or more ago. :/

Blah.

Looks cheap when you can't even get the LM to face the place!

not a great solution, but the direction they are facing if it's not towards the build is to place an information board there, usually that makes the 'resident' want to turn their avatar away from it, inadvertently making them face the correct direction.

I find it is random

sometimes I land facing one way, sometimes another

tested a while back, thinking maybe it was the way I was facing when I teleported and that did not change it either...

no clue

Instead of an info board, I created a gazebo with it's opening facing the entrance to the shop. Fit the theme, added a decorative touch and guides the visitors into the right direction all in one subtle fixture :)

That's a really good example of "affordance in user-interface design". Donald Norman would be proud :)

Hmm.. Not terribly practicle to place anything outside the Lounge for right now, but maybe in the future!

Really great ideas though. The info board will definately be possible in a few months! =)

I'm using an ancient viewer with the Nicholaz overlay so this may be different depending on viewer used. I stand and face exactly where I want people to land. Then I use my trusty Mystitool to display the SLURL, copy/paste the info it displays and when people tp to my areas, they are in the spot I stood in when grabbing the Mysti SLURL.

i think i read somewhere a while back about tps always making you face the center of the sim. not in world to try it. but if that's true, it can probably help some people in deciding the layout of places.

Ruthven - My Lounge IS the center of the SIM =x In order to face the center, you'd face it.. Lol.

Will have to try tracking down the Mysti tool and see if that works.

i did say i wasn't in world to try it :p. i have the mystitool. i don't think there's anything in it that would solve that problem at all. it can map the destionations for you to tp to, but it's still a tp, which as the discussion is about, doesn't do any rotations :(

Right: the Mystitool, or anything that uses SLURLs (like just the Map) gives location, but not rotation. But as far as I can tell, Landmarks don't even contain rotation information. And I'm guessing that Landing Points are equally impoverished, although I don't know for sure.

Of course, scripted teleporters will deposit the rider in a fixed rotation. I could even imagine a little landing pad--a kind of avatar "lazy susan"--that spun a newly arrived guest into the intended rotation (and maybe gave a gentle shove off the pad towards the door), but getting that to be a positive experience while rezzing... not sure 'bout that.

maybe lay arrows on the ground pointing to the location ....

wouldn't an av need to "sit" on something to be able to externally affect their rotation?

You could have the landing zone farther away from the club, and then "VIP Limos" all around which bring them to the door? :o

Yep. Sorry 'bout that. I misremembered what happens when one stands (not sits) on a rotating physical object. (One gets moved around with the platform, more or less, but remains facing the same direction. Oops. :o )
