I use Firefox, and find that some forum messages display html-ish formatting instead of simply appearing in their proper format. Others come up perfectly, including numbered lists.
Several days ago, I encountered a note about some kind of Firefox add-on to help with these forums. Does anyone know where I can find this? I've looked everywhere, and if we're playing hide-and-seek, the note is winning.
Thanks.

The information you need is up in the BBCode Emulation sticky in this forum. Here it is in a nutshell (copied from the sticky): 1) Install the greasemonkey extension for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 2) Restart you browser 3) browse to: http://home.comcast.net/~mailerdaemon/bbcodeintext.user.js 4) click the install button thingy.

Thanks! I didn't look there, because I have no idea what BBCode is, so assumed I don't use it. Doncha just love jargon?

BBCode is used (with slight variations) in almost all fora out in the Internet. It's well worth getting acquainted with the most common codes like B, I, FONT, COLOR or SIZE.

Getting the stuff to appear correctly on your screen is good but if you ar e wanting to put something on display that requires formatting - best bet is to put a formatted version somewhere else.
The sl wiki has a page for every user, so one could stick things on their wiki page, I suppose. I'm not sure just what kind of formatting standard it uses but it can't be worse than here. Or post it at sluniverse or slexchange or elsewhere and give a link here.

Is there no help available for Internet Explorer users?
I don't use IE much myself but it seems like there ought to be some sort of plug-in for IE to deal with this sort of problem.
Ah well, if someone switches from IE to Firefox (or Opera) in order to deal with this is might end up having been a net benefit for them.

I dont normally have issues with IE, but now that I am running on Vista (which I hate and strongly am debating a switch back) there are a lot of things that are just broken. Flash to name one. I use Firefox for sites that I cant get to with IE but for some reason I have stuck with IE through all the pain of using it. I should just switch and get over it already!

It will probably take about the same amount of time you save when you visit your first page on the intterweb compared to IE.

Now all you have to do is fend off Microsoft's incessant requests to "update your computer with an essential upgrade" - always check the list of upgrades offered, and always uncheck I.E.x.x in the list, or it will, as if by magic, become your default browser again.
