I had an oldbie help me with the prefs so i'm pretty sure i didnt make a dumb mistake. (i had the white dot and the talk button and lock were highlighted) please help!

Here are some of the things I am sure to do when I seem to have an issue with voice. In windows, control panel, sounds and audio devices, voice tab, be sure that under voice playback and voice recording the default devices are set to the headset you are using. then click on test hardware. Having succesfully tested the hardware I then open SL and go to prefs and be sure voice is enabled by checking the box and being sure that my headset is selected as the default hardware, then run the wizard. If that is successful start sl and be sure that you are on voice enabled land and that the voice lock on the bottom of the browser is clicked. If you still dont see the green bars above your head that indicate you are speaking, check that the volume is turned up, on your headset, in windows and on the volume control on your sl browser. If all that fails sometimes choosing a different USB port can help too.
