When to new adult content rules officially kick in?

When do the new rules for adult content *officially* kick in? Please point me to where this information is posted by LL.

officially, with the viewer version that includes them in the TOS... but enforcement may be spotty for awhile... LL generally takes an "as reported" stance to enforcement.

Is that new viewer deployed yet? Due to idunnowhat, I can't run any new SL client downloads: my virus software objects in strong terms, and unfortunately I have little control over the virus software. So, I'm still running a 1.22 client I compiled myself.

There are several hints that they had intended 60 days after release to be the "required by" date (which would be August 15th), but the Zindra land move is gonna take *much* longer than they thought, and they cant enforce the new mature rules until all the sex places have moved out.

Yeah, this would have been my bet. There is no way they can enforce everything if they have not even finished setting up the folks that get the free land swap deal. However, I would expect them to make an announcement and start enforcement very shortly after they finish that.

(well, ok - given how well they communicate, the *announcement* might be a whisper in a blog somewhere).

My landlord says it's not yet even possible to set private island land as adult, so I'm guessing I have some time yet.

You can set an island to Adult in the current LL main viewer, at least I assume the menu option works. There are a few out there already.

For the estate owner, World>Region/Estate>Region>Rating

Like land in Zindra, the rating will show as Mature if you are running an older or 3rd party viewer.

As of Jun 28th:

* Estate - Adult: 148
* Estate - Mature: 19096
* Estate - Offline: 19
* Estate - PG: 3374
* Linden - Adult: 162
* Linden - Mature: 3832
* Linden - PG: 1429

So "a few" is almost as many as the Lindens have made

(since then, there is a new block of Zindra coming on line, so its a race whether estates or mainland will have more adult regions)

I can confirm that. I already flipped my home sim to Adult, tested it, and flipped it back to Mature. Either the 1.23.4 client, which is the current official release, or the experimental "Snowglobe" client, will set the sim values, and will let you set your Avatar's access preferences. Once you have set your preferences, you can drop back to 1.22, and can access an Adult Flagged sim (assuming you are either payment info on file or Aristotle verified, and in 1.23 set your prefs to allow Adult sim access), but you won't see a visible difference between Mature and Adult sims in 1.22 and earlier clients. You need the 1.23.4 client or Snowglobe client to use the newly restricted Search features, or to see which sims are Adult flagged.

Thanks for the more recent numbers. The last report I looked at was a few days before yours, but it listed the Adult sims and I popped around to a few to make sure they did register as Adult and the first few I went to were set back to Mature or had gone offline. I wasn't sure where the numbers currently were, so I down-played a bit.

As for the race, I'm guessing Adult estates will eventually out number Adult mainland regions, if this policy is enforced at all, if for no other reason than there are so many more private regions than mainland regions. We'll see.

You may have trouble soon, however. I think that the client that you are using will soon no longer work. Of course you may have a way to work around that if you are compiling your own clients.

Didn't LL say that 60 days after Zindra opens, the old client will stop working? Or was it 60 days after 1.23 is released?

So you might want to figure out how to disable or uninstall/reinstall your other software eventually.
