Try linking the new account to a different email address. I had the same problem a couple of days ago and by changing the email account I used for signup, it allowed me to create the new AV.
A throwaway yahoo or gmail address is fine, and if you need to, you can set those to forward to your main email. |

What else is going on, how many have you created in the past and what did you do with them? I believe the guideline is 5 basic accounts before LL starts to get upset and I know many people with 6 or more. Jackie _____________________

Don't be too surprised to get back-billed retroactively for the extra alts if the Lab figures out both addresses belong to you, though. |

The Lindens say you're wrong. http://secondlife.com/whatis/pricing.php And it took Linden Lab around a year, I think, to remove references to First Land in the website after stopping the program. It's been a while since I have created an alt account- a year or so- but when I did, using the same e-mail as my first account, I was not charged anything. And the supposed charge for alt accounts was in effect again. (Though thinking about it, maybe the charge for an alt only applies if you don't have a Premium account? I had a Premium account. The alt charge is listed under the Basic Account paragraph, not the Premium Account paragraph.) |

The Lindens say you're wrong. http://secondlife.com/whatis/pricing.php If you read the price list linked to from that page you'll see there is no price listed for a second account. And when you sign up, there is no opportunity to indicate that it is a second account and pay a fee, and hasn't been since they dropped the fee for alts. And as for backbilling, my first alt I paid for. The second is over 2 years old and they've never asked for a penny, even though it's linked to the original email. |

The Lindens say you're wrong. The LL info sites say a lot of stuff that is wrong or outdated. *shrugs* _____________________

This stuff was added to the KB last year after some requests. https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=4201 Payment and email stuff can get messy, sometimes they allow sharing, sometimes not. |

Generally speaking:
The $9.95 fee per alt is technically "on the books", but LL only bothers to collect it at their discretion, in cases where they feel someone is abusing alts. (Want to keep your 1,000 spambots? $9.95 each, please, or we will deactivate them for non-payment..." LL has said quite clearly that they have no intention of collecting a fee for alts from people who use them normally and responsibly. they want as many acounts created as possible, to artificially inflate the numbers of accounts they can claim have signed up for SL.Use a new e-mail for each alt. This prevents some cases of them saying you have "too many accounts". The LL sign-up pages throttle you to no more than two accounts created per day. Third-party account creation sites like Avatar Island do not do that limit. You can put up to 5 accounts on the same payment method. Sometimes more, but not reliably. For PayPal, they seem to count each successful entry of the payment info as a seperate event, with a lifetime maximum of 5 uses. So if you have one SL account, and switch payment method on-file back and forth between PayPal and your Visa card several times, based on which actually has money available to spend, LL will eventually decide you've used your 5 allowed entries on PayPal, and forever lock out any NEW PayPal approvals for account payment methods from you, while at the same time quite happily honoring any EXISTING accounts using the same PayPal account! This seems to be the only payment method they are so idoitic about. And changing the e-mail address used to bill the PayPal account doesn't circumvent this block. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.
