Can anyone help me learn to remove a modification that doesn't seem to have a "detach" "or "take off" option? I bought a tan a while back and now it seems to be permanent. I can't seem to get rid of it. Any thoughts?

Bought a tan?
Should be able to change skins by wearing a new (different) skin.
Does a tan go over the skin like the 'body oil' things do?
Did you try typing WORN in inventory to see what your av actually has on (it will be in bold type)?
That's all I got.

Open your inventory, type "WORN" at the top. It will show what you are wearing. Look for the tan and see if you can detach it from there.
ETA: or what Clarissa said.

It is most likely a skin that you bought. You can't "detach" it. You have to replace it with another skin.
Look in your inventory, where you had your avatar before adding the tan. There is probably a skin in that folder that is not currently "worn". Wear that, and you'll be back the way you were.
Or if you were less organized before the change, look in your inventory or in the Library section for another skin, and wear that.

I find that spending excessive amounts of time in Second Life is a good way to remove a tan.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Replacing the skin is the way. I just replaced it with the same skin I was using before I applied the tan. Thanks everybody.
