I added something to my store that is not a product or I would put in New Products- it is a very popular traffic promoter/prize giver thing- so not sure where, if anywhere would be appropriate to announce the availability of such here in the forums...

Suggestions?

Sounds like a product to me. "Thing" = "product".

if it is a MM board, you can join various MM groups and advertise on their group channels. Unfortunately, with the changes in traffic (no bots, etc) lots and lots of people are using MM to bring in traffic, and just sticking transferable junk or full perm freebies they got somewhere in them, then spamming the hell out of the MM group chats. I loved my MM boards when I first got them, I would put in somethin nice and put it on the channels, and loads of people would come to slap them (and some of them shopped :D). But the spam got so bad after bots were outlawed that I actually quit 3 of my groups this week (I hadn't advertised with them in quite a while).

It was nice when it was actually mostly creators using the system.

It is and I did (join a group, I mean)- I meant was it ok or whwere was it ok, to mention it here on the forum- as you can see I had avoided using the name cause i wasn't sure if it was OK to post it here- but oh well-

And actually I put a brand new lash tht is not even available for sale at the moment. I think it wd be pretty short sighted to put crap in it- who the heck wd come back? I don't need more traffic- I need traffic from people who actually shop :)

Oh. I thought you meant you were selling the thing itself...you know, "Merchants! Buy My New Prize Giving Thing! Draw Traffic To Your Store!!"

What you mean is, "My store has a new prize giver, come check it out"...right?

I dunno...maybe include some words like prizes, freebies, gifts, etc. in your parcel and store ad descriptions?

Is there a forum here somewhere for events, publicity etc.? Throw a party or something to publicise your new thingy whatever it might be, and post it there. :)

Hard to say more without knowing anything about it. Good luck on it, though.

the people who are doing it, don't care if people shop or come back to shop, they do it strictly for the traffic. There is a mall out there somewhere that keeps advertising their FIFTY MM boards. And they post everythink in every one of them in big huge cut and paste walls of text. Even if you go and the stuff is crap, they bank on you forgetting and going again in 2 weeks or a month. Just makes those of us who actually make things and put them in the boards look bad lol

I remember when lucky chairs were like this. Some had really good stuff, but then the assholes decided it was good for traffic and so they loaded up on lucky chairs that they just put crap in and started constantly announcing them in the various lucky chair groups.

Now that the lucky chair craze has died a bit, most of the ones left are actually decent, though not all of them.

Is there a blog just for what's good in lucky chairs/MM boards?

I have visited a couple MM boards that someone posted in a non MM group and found a huge mall filled with really old full perm freebies in the (shops and) MM boards/lucky chairs. Actually I was a bit new then and took a couple things anyway Lol but more recently when I went, I thought, oh. And that's what I waited ten minutes for it to rez...

Some sort of guide for those who frequently go to chairs/boards would be useful if there isn't any yet.

That's easy. Just start a thread to ask where to advertise it ;)

Exactly. Just bust it out here. Like I just tried a raffle ball from Alicia Stella, that is a blast - they love it. Kind of like that.

or start a thread titled....Great Prize Promotional Tools....and your question would be (since some demand a question)...."any more suggestions?"

ETA: might leave the word "traffic" out of any title, or then it branches off into "ethics." Evidently some think encouraging "traffic" requires an ethical discussion.

Sure, but the word "traffic" or, better still, "traffic bots", is almost guaranteed to get a bigger readership, and it's only the first post that needs to be read.

I'm not really clear on "what" it was.....and would need that info to make a more detailed analysis and response to your original question.

What was it?

You know, people like to have ALL the information at hand when responding to a question.

It's OK . . .

Pep ( . . . we're not interested in it anyway.)

PS Why don't you ask them over at SCII?

Ralektra asked if it was an MM board and I said it was :)
