:o It's been a while sonce I sold on xstreet so...... I'd like to be prepared before i start making dumb mistakes.

Firstly, can we use folders, or does each item have to be a single piece? Or, would boxing the items be the way to go?

Second....what size images do folks use for their ads? I know 512 is common as I do ads already for some xstreet venders.....but is that a requirement? Reason being, in showing a full body image, it seems a portrait size would be better.

Well, anything you put up for sale on XStreet needs to go in your Magic Box, so that eliminates folders right off - prims can't have folders of stuff in their inventory. If your item has several parts I guess it would need to be boxed.

Yeah, single items, but a box full of stuff is fine. That's really an SL limitation.

It's really pretty much free form, and you can use more than one image if you want one to fill out the thumbnail and more images with better views. They claim an 8 MB, 800x600 maximum image size, but I don't think even that is being enforced. SL-ish dimensions are common mostly because it's easy to recycle textures made for in-world.

I box everything, even something as simple as a rug, because I like to add my note card with info and lm's in the box as well as instructions for some items.

I box only stuff with multiple items. I tend to put notecards INSIDE single pieces like a rug so they won't ever get lost.

For pictures, I like to go with 800 x 600 jpgs. Watch your file sizes, nothing is more frustrating that waiting for pictures to load from some idiot who uploaded PNG or BMP files at 4 MB per image. 800 x 600 is a nice size for viewing. If you take your snapshots in-world set at 800 x 600 it is easy to drop them into Photoshop (or whatever editor you use) for a consistant look.

Thanks gang. Boxing will do just fine.

I always take my images in 2048 in SL for clarity, then resize them in PS later to what ever is needed, so that's no big deal. I just wanted to make sure I did everything properly before plowing ahead. ;)

I find it easiest to just use my package textures at 512x512. If you have something that really needs showing off in detail, then 1024x1024 or 800x600 would be OK. I would put whatever it is you are selling in a box even if it's a single item since that's what most people expect from an XStreet delivery. It also throws it into your Object folder which works well for new items.

When oh when is XStreet going to support store branding and accounts like Onrez?????
