Is it possible to get a last name that isnt available anymore if the first name you want isnt taken?

Yes it is somewhat impossible. You can find someone not using their avatar and get permission to get it from them - but you won't be able to change the first name.

Yes, this is still true. Besides, LL does not recycle retired last names.

I noticed a new resident last night with the surname "Afterhought".

LL are coming up with some pretty clever ones lately.

LL won't even allow you to revive a "retired" name for the purpose of taking the same surname as your Partner...

Once retired, it is forever unusable for new accounts.

And yes, TOS clearly forbids transferring or sharing accounts, except in the case of the death of the original account holder in RL, where disposition of an account may be directed by a valid will.

even then I believe, it's only for the retrieval and transfer of goods and IP (probably with an exception for businesses)

and while it IS against TOS, I know some people still transfer accounts to others.

I'd be interested in how LL deals with business ownership changes though, that would an interesting topic.

(and I really wish they'd reopen some old names, I last one of my best av names due to their stupid API [long ago] permanently locking names based on incomplete sign-ups... now they only temp lock them)
