Question about messaging

I sometime receive message from people in the form of blue dialog box that appear at the top right corner of our screen.

Its not group message. Group message has group name on it and insignia. Its just plain message like those "Second Life is about to shutdown in 5 minutes" we receive from SL.

Anyone has an idea how to send this kind of message?

that is LL warning or telling something they feel is important. It is helpful if you know you have 5 mins to vacate the sim you are in before you get booted.

Mysitool has the ability to send those messages. There might be other gadgets that do it as well. I know I have seen hostesses in clubs send them.

I have gotten alot of spam in the same dialog boxes. Do you have exactly what it says?

Then Mystitool needs to be outlawed. The blue information boxes have aways been reserved for official LL notices. That could be seen as griefing.........I'd AR it too.

You mean we need special tool to do this. Can't we send this kind of message using whatever mean SL viewer provide? I just realize it can be sent to a grop of people instead of only one

estate managers can do it too.
Also several devices use blue pop ups, to take permissions or generate menus.

ah....it seems there is no other means to do this other then using script. This can be done using sensors and llDialog. I don't think SL can disable those functions. It will damage a lot of existing scripts.

Is message spamming against TOS? If so, lots of chatty group is going to be banned, lol.

Someone using a dialog box that looks like an official notice from LL saying "the sim you are in is going to restort (or whatever)" is griefing. I'd AR it in a heartbeat.

Message spamming is against TOS, but just because a group has lots of messages, does not mean it is 'spam'. A group can be as chatty as the group owner decides it can be. For the inworld forum cartel group, we encourage chatting. Chatting in a group is not spam. However, if someone starts unasked for advertising in the group chat box, that is spam.

My reading on the OP was she is saying it is LIKE those messages, not that it IS those messages - in other words, it is coming in the same type of boxes that the restart messages come in.

So the message could be "in 5 mins your sim will be restarted, leave now". And Mystitool has that capability.........I'd AR it.

I was thinking she meant more like the messages Subscribe-o-matic groups send out...they appear in the same sort of blue box.

Uhm... all the subscribe-o-matic messages I get are just scripted - green - IMs. The only time there's a pop-up is when it has an attachment and that's just the usual Accept/Decline/Mute.

Official LL grid-wide notices will have "Second Life" as the first line.
Sim restart notices will also have "Second Life" as the first line.

Estate notices will have the name of the estate manager who sent the notice as the first line.

Scripted dialogs will have an Ignore button (I think they're taller as well and the OK button won't be in the same place) and won't appear in the chat history.
