I am new to SL. I have been going to various freebie stores and sometimes when i pick an item off the wall and try to wear it, I end up just holding the box or the poster. How do I get the products out of the box and onto my body? I'm also having trouble with my animations, when i play my walk animation, my avatar continues to walk even when im standing still. Please help me.

You need to go to someplace that allows you to "rez" items. A sandbox will work if you don't have a place in mind. "Rez" the box by dragging it from your inventory and placing it on the ground. Then right-click the box and pick open. A window showing contents of the box will appear and then you can copy to inventory or copy and wear.

You can't just use the animation on its own.

You need something called an "Animation Over-rider" which you drop the animations into and edit a notecard for.

The ZHAO-II is free, but doesn't come with any animations. Search for Material Squirrel -- it's in their store.

Bare Rose has free (or near free) preconfigured ones for male and females.

Actually you can just use the animation, but then you have to click Stop when you are done walking to turn the animation off and then Play it again each time you start walking - which is a paiin. Using an Animation Override, an AO, handles that.
