Bug on group invites? Some can't see roles..

Hiyas.. I own a group. This group has a couple admin-type roles and a bunch of other generic roles.

I recently created a new role so that some people could invite others into the group. This role has just the "Invite People to this Group" and "Assign Members to Assigner's Roles" abilities set. The people in this new role are also members of _all_ the other non-admin roles.

The 3-4 people I've added to this new role all report that they can't seem to invite others into anything by the Everybody role.

Am I missing something obvious here? Maybe some other ability that needs setting? Or is this a known bug? I poked thru JIRA a bit but nothing jumped out at me..

I was just poking around in group roles/abilities yesterday, and it seems like there IS a checkbox for the ability to assign members to different roles. I can't remember what it's called, and I'm not in-world right now, but it seems as though you would have to check that in order for your inviters to move people around.

(Still can't remember what it's called, but it seems as though I tried to check it and got a warning popup that if enabled, it would allow them to assign people to any role, including group owner. So it may not be the solution to your needs!)

I think I read your previous post too fast - you said you did have "Assign Members to Assigner's Roles" abilities set.

Hm... maybe that only works with "Create New Role" and gives the inviter the power to assign them to roles the inviter has created?

I'm going to hush now, as I don't think I'm helping much at all! lol I hope someone with more knowledge will be along shortly and set us both straight!

Yep! There's one that lets role members assign people to the roles they're in and one that lets role members assign people to _any_ role. The second one is dangerous because anybody with that power can just make themself (or anybody/everybody) group owner.

The one I'm using is the one that lets them assign people to roles they're in. The other one I avoid like the plague.
