Ok i did not see these posted but i could have missed it,

Is anyone having the following issues with the RC

Log chat is reset to no every time the viewer is restarted, voice chat says unavailable when i try to set it up, SL clears cache every time i restart, some grapics preferences have to be reset every time i start SL. This is happening on both my comps.

It's a known bug: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6321

thank you for posting the jira for the chat logging issue. Anyone have any clues to the rest of them.

They all seem to relate to swapping viewers, if I sont swap back and forth it seems ok, to keep relogging with the same viewer, but, if I go back to 19.1.0 then I have to redo everything.

Can this be worked around by specifying settings.xml files for each viewer?

I only use 1 viewer, the RC, and this happens to me. I have no other versions of SL installed.

Yeah, at least on my installation, it did sure seem that every time I launched 1.20, it would reload Inventory from scratch, as if I'd cleared cache. And then, if I launched 1.19.1, it would do it, too, that first launch, and then behave as normal till the next time I ran 1.20.

As if the asset servers didn't have enough to do. Come to think of it... asset server problems have been ongoing since pretty much forever, but haven't things been much worse since 1.20 RC was available? Correlation does not imply causation, but as Thoreau said, "Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk." ;)

If you ever had a main viewer installed, you'll likely have a left-over settings.xml in your user_settings folder, get rid of the settings.xml and the RC will work properly.

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6298 which they imported yesterday so hopefully it'll get fixed before RC1 :)

For those trying to use 1.20 at the same time as another viewer, the easiest solution is to simply rename settings.xml to settings_main.xml and edit the shortcut you use to open the other viewer and add: --settings settings_main.xml

As long as settings.xml doesn't exist, the RC will load them properly.

Yay an answer, i think that was probably it. I do know that i never deleted that folder cause i had logs i needed to transfer and forgot.

Eep :o... I forgot to point out that it doesn't fix the "log chat" option most likely, it just fixes all the other settings that revert which is the bug I reported, I didn't look at the chat logging bug.

I have to reset 'shiny' every time I log in on the current RC viewer.
Also, on the best of out 2 comps, which has fancy drop-down SL in-world menus, the lettering is dull dark blue on semi-transparent black background - so 95% illegible!
On older steam-powered comp, menus are fine.

Another bug today was this........ I made a multi-coloured bracelet then wore it to do a dance session at a beach. All seemed fine, but when I next logged in the bracelet had gone back to the big size I made it at before reducing it. i only hope people didn't see it big like that at the beach, I'd cry!

Okies, work-around for chat logging (or not logging) :).

1) Log on to SL with the RC
2) Advanced / Debug Settings...
3) Type: UserSettingsFile
4) Change the settings.xml at the end to settings_per_account.xml
5) Edit / Preferences, IM tab
6) Check/uncheck whatever settings you want
7) Close SL (if you crash, it won't save settings so do close right after changing them)

8) Done :)

(Note: if you want to change them, you'll have to go through the steps once more and since it's per account, you'll have to do it for each alt)

(Caution note: once LL fixes the bug you *have* to get rid of settings_per_account.xml before installing a new RC or it could cause the same bug we have now and it's very unlikely anyone would guess you put that file there. If you think you'll forget, do not try it, the annoyance now isn't worth the potential headaches later :))

I would think so... After having to reset everything twice, I added the settings file command line option in my main SL icon. I've just been too unwilling to use the RC after doing it. (>_<;)

The flickering, simline blackouts, and crash on build/rotation is a bit too much for me so far. It's not yet worth the +10 framerate I've been seeing. I choose quality over quantity and 1.19.1 is the lesser of two evils. (=_=)
