Does anyone have the same problem as me.
If you have a Hotmail addy to which your im's are forwarded to when you are offline. If so do you receive ALL of your im's. If you only receive a portion of them could you please post here thank you.
It appears Hotmail is somewhat unreliable and patchy on this issue.
Thanks.

I use Gmail myself, but I do recall some threads about Hotmail not playing well with LL's messaging.
Gmail's still free, and I get all my IM's when off world...no problems.

I've been having trouble receiving IM-to-Email for a couple of months now. I've bug reported it, of course, but it didn't occur to me that the E-mail address itself could be part of the problem. It's a Juno address. I'll try switching it to my Gmail address. Thanks for the suggestion, Joseph. Nisa, to answer your question, you can sign up for Gmail at, guess what, Gmail.com.

Hotmail stopped working. I switched to Gmail. Love it. Huge storage and reliable messaging.

Do you still need invites to use Gmail?

I use one of the mailboxes that come along with my account by ISP. Never a problem. Those are 500mb each. So plenty of room, specially when I get my mail mostly daily.
In my mail-program I use rules to move everything to the folders I made for them. Spam gets for 99% filtert out at the side of the ISP. Same goes for virus-mail.
I have only a hotmail-address for MSN.
Morwen.

Got my Googlemail addy set up now and altered my settings in sl.
I have no problems in receing my im to my isp addy but I wanted to keep sl separate as there are so many that come through. Thats why i chose Hotmail originally, and had no problems with them until recently, when I noticed that not all of them were to email only part.
SL have looked into this for me through support and they confirm that they were sent to Hotmail so its Hotmail that is at fault and not sl, as my other email addy work ok.
If you have problems with hotmail report it to hotmail support, as they want to know if any other residents have the same problem as me, as they would like to sort it out.
Here's hoping Gmail works ok.
Thanks.

From: Nisa Maverick I have no problems in receing my im to my isp addy but I wanted to keep sl separate as there are so many that come through. I am receiving too much mail to keep all seperated (not from SL only). But to keep it organised I use rules to IM's, group announcements and blog-messages to seperated folders. The same I do with the mailinglist I am member of or mail I receive from other sources. And I know myself, if I would have to check another mail-account as hotmail or gmail apart from my normal mail, I would forget it half of the time Morwen.

And if you go to All Mail, you can search it for one thing in particular. I love gmail and it's the only thing I have now, both for personal use and for Honey's use.

I had/have a Gmail account set-up for SL, but then I recently discovered that my IP offers a free Yahoo Premium account. This allows me to create a multi-identity anonymous email address.
So I can use something like 'myinbox-secondlife@yahoo.com' or 'myinbox-jethrostubbs@yahoo.com' or 'myinbox-spamthis@yahoo.com' and delete or add identities as desired.
I also like it because it's pop3 and my cell phone company pushes yahoo (and hotmail and aol but NOT gmail).
