More Mist !!

Is it me or is the avatar mist thing getting worse?

I have been logged in for 30 minutes now, I am still mist. I have re-logged, cleared cache, re-booted, prayed !

Nothing helps. And of course the grid status will not be updated until the problem has been active for at least four hours.

So the mist, good or bad idea?

Ruth seemed to have less of a performance impact than the cloud does so I think it's a bad idea.

Aside from the fact that it was (and still is since it has specific new bugs of its own that need fixing) a waste of time to make a problem look more visually appealing as opposed to actually fixing it of course.

With your specific problem: did you try relogging onto a different sim?

(Edit / Preferences - check "Show Start Location" and type in the name of a sim under your name where it says "Home"/"My Last Location" before logging on. Kara or Hahne should work)

Shipper, try Ruthing yourself.

CTRL+ALT+D to get the Advanced menu. Then
Advanced/Character/Character Tests/Test Male or Test Female.

After Ruth appears, re-don your usual appearance.

I had this a couple of days ago and after about 3 hours had enough and pulled up a live chat. They pointed me to the KB article which was the usual but also to change avatar, shape, skin etc.

Now, I couldn't do that because it was stuck at "your clothing is still downloading but others will see you normally" which was rubbish, friends told me so!

What I did do was go into the advanced menu, character, character tests, test female

(sorry if that's not the precise menu selection, it's from memory)

Pretty instantly I rendered to the long haired, purpled topped Ruth and from that point could switch back.

That did it, many thanks. I just need to waste my time now re-doing my Av.

On another subject, it is fully understandable that Businessses are pully out of SL in huge numbers. Despite all the hype, can you imagine getting 20 Managers logged in for a meeting, only to have half of them look like mist?

Sometimes I wonder if Lindens are taking SL seriously anymore !!

This happens a lot. Try going to appearance and being patient while it loads. SL is becoming as canky as my stock portfolio.

What I hate about the clouds is with Ruth, you could still rightclick on the avatar and choose from the pie menu. With the particle cloud, that doesn't work. And with Ruth, you at least had a rudimentary idea what the ava was supposed to look like...

Novis, right clicking a cloud gives me the usual pie menu...

Just bumping because this is a common suggestion that doesn't actually work: as long as you're ruth'ed you won't be able to go into appearance.

I haven't had any joy when right clicking a white cloud, but the name tag is always right-clickable to get the pie menu.
