Since i read many post (also in the official blog) that complain the current release candidate 1.20.0 (84432), after running it for 3 hours already, i must say that it works, no crash (previously with ANY 1.19.x i was annoying by frequent crash when using Chinese input or cleaning the trash).

And i must say that the dazzle interface is good, the new icons for the inventory make it more clear, and the colored text desciption behind the inventory item(those 'no copy', 'no modify', 'worn' words) also help much.

For the performance, it catch up with the 1.19.1, without the frequent crash. But i notice that the frame rate is a little bit lower than 1.19.1 on my machine (GF7600). Generally it is better than the 1.19.x series.

Hope Linden solve the avatar lighting problem soon, i am frustrated to see my face and skin so ulgy under the sunlight, i can imagine that newbie will install and then uninstall SL, because they just see ulgy avatar around :o

Works for me too...except the new interface. Can't stand it. And I was trying it out months ago when I found an early add-on to see it via Torley's page. If they can simply add a DARK version I'll be good. Otherwise I'll be a skinnin' the primitive way.

My JIRA reported problem since 1.19.0 is fixed too, no more 'force quits' to leave SL :)

Interface changes need time to grow on you, al though it probably isn't the best they could have done.

It works fine for me also. The new light blue interface is a little odd, but it may just take some gettingused to. I spent an hour or so last night just checking it out.
Performance seems to be as good or better then the previous version.
One thing I noticed that was a change from the other viewer is that the map no longer gives the option to show your friends on the map. Not a big deal really but why bother having the friends list have the option still there to be checked when the map is not making use of it?
meh...that feature is sorta irrelevant anyways..maybe they are in the process of getting rid of it.

I don't like it very much. The camera drifts too much and it was freezing me while I was trying to move objects. Other than that it seems to load textures a lot faster...

I was in a shop the other day and the camera was automatically zooming in and out of my head, really awful had to leave the shop.

this is irrelevant I just realised, it was before this release.

I wonder why they removed the tools menu?

crashes for me

The old viewer basically never crashed. The new 1.20 crashed twice (hard) in 20 minutes.
Your mileage may vary.

It's still there, but it only shows up when you are editing something.

Making Dazzle Look More Or Less Like Previous Versions
04-13-2008 09:20
Part of the Dazzle Viewer (1.20 series) is the ability to make it look the way you want.

Below are instructions to make it look more or less like older versions.

It would be nice if it were a tab on preferences, but at least its _possible_ to make custom changes.

(Note: I installed this and it looks good to me, YMMV)

http://www.rpgstats.com/SL/Dazzle-Retro.zip

Contains the custom colors.xml file and darker images

http://www.rpgstats.com/SL/Dazzle.zip

- Contains a blank colors.xml file and the Dazzle UI images
(for those who wish to revert without a re-install)

Extract the zip file of your choice, there will be two folders. "app_settings" and "skins"

Copy the content of those two folders into the right places in your SecondLifeReleaseCandidate
program folder ( on windows this is C:\Program Files\SecondLifeReleaseCandidate\ by default )

If you do like it and want to make a donation of some kind...
Just send it to Thraxis Epsilon in SL.

It took me a few trys to be able to see some stability out of it. I'm seeing blackout screen flickers randomly and during all simline crossings. I tried a build at 2000M yesterday morning with a couple of crashes and found that most crashes happened during camera rotation. (=_=) I miss having the Friends combo box in the map. And it seems to affect all the other clients I have installed... I've had to reset my 1.19.1 client settings twice after trying out the 1.20... All the settings and cache were corrupted and had to be cleared and started over from scratch. (>_<;)

But, when it is working, I do have a slightly better frame rate and the UI skin in that zip file makes it completely tolerable. (^_^)

...Now... Checking that jira again... (>_>;)
