I would like to put together a new avatar package of things in my store, but want to limit them to 2 weeks old. How do i go about setting this up? I know there was a post somewhere else on it, but I think it only listed places that offered it not a way to do it..

SO if anyone has a moment.. I would appreciate a helping hand..

This question would better go to the scripting forum, but here is a hint, anyway:
llRequestAgentData(id, DATA_BORN) in the touch_start event handler.

i don't remember that thread, so i'll just say that you can make a note above the box with hovering text of the expiration date, and just go and delete the box once that time has come and gone.

you could mod this script to do that pretty easily

You need to start with the avatars "born" date (the date they joined Second Life) by using llRequestAgentData within the scripted object that will be checking their birthdate and handing them your noobie package.

You can find more info here:
http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=TextSearch&phrase=llRequestAgentData

As they're touching the object prior to having their birthdate checked you'll also want to know about touch events:
http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=touch

And as you're giving inventory bone up on this:
http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=inventory

I'm not sure why you feel the need to limit a freebie package to residents younger than two-weeks. It might be simpler to offer the freebie package(s) to all residents and simply tuck it all into a copyable object.

I have found that most freebies that are set for residents under 2 weeks or 4 weeks old are worthless really. Many newbies are still trying to find their feet in this period and not many will have had a chance to ffind all these freebies.

I work in an all female sim that has many newbies walk through the place. Having chatted with them, many of them can be one to 2 weeks old and have only been in sl once before, mainly because they dont know anything and so sl is well HARD. I think these vouchers with a limited time on them would be best to be expanded to about 2 months... mainly becuase in the first 3 or 4 weeks they are still trying to find their feet and the likelyhood of them finding our store in that time is low.

I have often met avies with no prim hair who are already over 4 weeks old so too old for me to suggest places like gurl 6 for hair.

*shrugs* on another note i like freebies... i have also ffound some of my new favourite places to shop because o freebies... limiting the freebie to people 2 weeks and under may mean you are missing out on shoppers like me who actually have linden to spend and like seeing the quality of a creators work before buying

Yes, first month I didn't really know what I was doing (still don't, but, eh) and missed out on a lot of these age things. Heh, first month. Lexxi was born 4 months after my main, and I still hadn't become aware of the "1 month" or "2 week" freebie offers until Lexxi was older than 1 month.

within my first two weeks I had a skin, hair, shoes clothes etc, no one would have guessed I was a newb...

it varies with each person...

but that being said, you do make a valid point, and I too have been tossing the idea around in my head for a new resident package... 2 months might seem a bit long to me, being I was very comfortable in SL within days of my rez date.. but to someone less likely to adapt so quickly 2 months is not really a long time

I would encourage a two-month period for someone to be considered new enough for freebies, but at the very least make it a month rather than 2 weeks. I was still completely lost at the 2-week point and actually still a lot lost until somewhere around 6-8 weeks. I missed out on pretty much all of the one month freebie deals because I just didn't know about them until it was too late.
