(First post. Please forgive me if its the wrong subforum!)
A couple of days ago, a friend challenged me to try and beat his DJ record of 9 hours, uninterrupted. I took up on his Challenge, and am aiming to go for 12 hours of live music in my "home" club.
However, after spreading the news to some of my friends, I received alot of positive comments on my attempt. Alot even hinting to take it further up to 24 hours.
Now with my friends spreading the news, I am wondering: Is there anyone who has claimed the record of longest live DJ set? If yes, what's the time? When? How?
If not...how do you all think about such a record?

You're going to DJ in SL for 12 hours? How will you verify it? Well. Good luck.

Do you mean in SL or in general? The DJ's from Gridstream Productions did marathon DJ sessions in the virtual world of Anarchy Online much longer than 12 hours. One with the handle Veldron did one for over 50 hours but in general many of them could do 12 hours standing on their head, so it's not that much of a feat in itself to do 12 hours. Gridstream Productions had a lot more presence in Anarchy Online than any DJ has in SL so the sessions were easily verifiable because hundreds to thousands would be listening to their stream at any given time of the day while playing the game.

In 2006 Spider Carnot took over my stream and went renegade for 25 hours. All the scheduled DJs just had to hang-out and enjoy the party that night and day. After that I always got the admin password so i can kick users off the shoutcast stream. But it was a fun party.

If not...how do you all think about such a record? At home I have a 12" round flat black vinyl disk with a spiral groove and a hole in the middle. Pep (Is this a record?)

Ah, thanks I know 12 hour on itself isn't a feat, which is why many people are telling me to take up the Challenge for 24 hours. Now that I know that Spider did 25..I might just aim for 26. As for timing. in the Club Ill be doing my attempt, we will have a timer which we start the moment the first song plays in SL. I'm spreading notecards around to my friends, and people who are interested in it, giving them the message to pass on the word. (IM me for one ). I'm really hoping for a great crowd

You can add to the event by doing the song trivia once a hour. make the song you play at the top of every hour one that you can devise trivia around. Like 'what film is this song from?', etc. Maybe publish the 26 song list so folks know when to tune in and win. Get some retailers to donate prizes and have the retailer's slurls to their stores included on the notecard as part of the promotion. Maybe display the sponsor's logos in the club on a board if they donate product and $500L to help pay out cash prizes.
