There are many different terms for "bot" or short for Robot, but what were referring to is mainly camping and traffic bots on Secondlife, I have seen many form of them take shape but the most common is where the account is not rezzed in-world yet they are a cloud like we all are when we first log in. they have no inventory or very little and may have an older date but look like its there 1st day and account holders do not want to spend money to give that an account a makeover. The purpose for this post is informational at best and describes what a bot is, also gives an in depth look at camping pads as well, and some camping programs that use and anti camp feature, so that bots cant sit down to take linden they have to pick a color or a letter combination (thus making camping legitimate)

Camping Chairs and Pads - chairs or pads where the person or avatar sits down to get linden ( most have an anti-bot installed which every so often makes them select a letter or number combination to continue camping this insures its a regular account or an alternate account but Def not a bot) one such example is the camp master system

Time Clock - Most employers who use avatar models use this system to where they have to be entered into a system in order to work and must model the apparel that the employer sells whether its shoes or outfits, at any rate they have to clock in every so often set by the employers guidelines, secondly the employer can restrict the number of people that model for her and the number of hours they are clocked in giving the employer total control over what goes on at his or her shop.

Dance pads - has an avatar dancing on a pad or a pole but the newer ones have anti bot features installed as described above

bottom line even though you see camping pads or boards you must log in to camp

I urge you to reconsider what is a bot and the difference between them and alternate accounts

Using any sort of camping to inflate traffic is just as against the rules as using bots.

Using bots to model clothing is not against the rules.

How do you know these accounts have no inventory?

Why are you telling us all this?

From Desmond's Devil's Dictionary:

A bot is anyone who went to get a cup of coffee but got stuck on the phone, or anyone seemingly unresponsive to "hi are u there" and "where can I get money"...

Based on this, people would think I'm a bot. Um, noooo. What I am is a rarely used roleplaying alt that's recently been demoted to camper. The roleplaying side uses a child av, and since my player has no intention of sending a child out to work, I get to wear a newbie av when camping. Hopefully, I'll get some decent grown-up gear soon, on hunts or something, but if she/I/we could afford to buy nonessentials, I wouldn't be camping in the first place.
