Hi,
How do I access group objects? I am the owner of the group, I created the object and deeded it to the group, now I can not modify the object? My group is activated?

How does this work? I want to make something, or buy something for the group, why can't I as a group member edit it?

Thx,
BT

If the object was set to prevent modification by next owner, then it's dead after being deeded to group. The group is that "next owner" and it can't be modified anymore by anybody.

On the other hand, if the object was set with modify permission before being deeded, then group members can edit it if "Share with group" is enabled (from the editor's General tab) by a group member with the proper role.

Note that any contents of the object will also need to have modify permission if they are to be changed (such as editing an embedded script) *and* they too have to be shared with group, individually, in their Properties (right click on the item in the Contents tab while editing the object).

Also, some contents of group-deeded objects, notably notecards and scripts, can not be modified while inside the object. This is particularly an issue with security systems and media players, when you need to update a configuration notecard. For these, you have two choices:

You can set the object or sale back to yourself, buy it, modify it, and then deed it back to the group. This is sometimes the best way, as long as you are careful about the next-owner permissions.

OR, you can replace the notecard or script with a copy from your inventory that you have modified. In some cases, a notecard can be dragged from the group-deeded object to your inventory, but this removes the original from the object, even though the card may have been full-perms. You can edit the card in inventory and put it back in the object.

Thank you...what a pain
