Has anyone else found a shift in numerous of their objects since yesterday...

Found that some of my stuff was hovering above the ground...not by much.... but I always sink my stuff into the ground just a little rather than see it floating....

You have pressed "lower land" on edit terrain by mistake. :P

I swear I've seen subtle changes in my property, which I've detailed in another post. The Linden who came to check it out told me that they don't usually rebake land, but he's seen places where, when after he reverted the land, it didn't match up to other sims in the area. The implication being something happened.

I've also talked to another resident who told me that she'd had land suddenly invade her build, and it couldn't be removed without the help of a linden.

SOMETHING is going on with the landscape.

Could not sink in tree in my land
01-27-2009 06:32
That is so weird you mentioned it. I was trying to sink a palm tree in my land the other day and it would not sink. I could get it to go into the sand just so far... but it would not budge any futher. I thought it was so weird but had to leave for work and was in a hurry. I ended up editing the land up around it instead and forgot all about it until I read this post.

are you close to a sim border and are you in a homestead ?
i live on a sim border and my things never change..but at the same time i managed a club about a month or so back and it was in a Homestead sim in the corner and stuff was moving all the time..i came in one time and the bar was outside the club..i noticed a section of the club had moved enough to push the bar and stools the outer wall..

was it a sculpty tree, if so, could have something to do with the bounding box size?

There are SL earthquakes along certain fault lines, as I lived on a full sim where we were constantly rearranging after such events. I am sure that LL does not talk about it because it would scare tenants away and lower property values. We need a seismologist to map the fault lines. Is there a San Andreas one? Living in the air is the only way to go. Got earthquake insurance? ;)

Back when SL still had the dreaded Wednesday Updates, there were a few times I'd log in after the update and either the ground would be a different height or all of my objects were at a different height.

It was odd and kind of funny to be in SL and everything's normal, then get booted for the update and come back eight hours later (cause the 1-hour update rarely took less) and my house and plants would be floating or embedded into the ground.

No..not a sculpty. It was a palm tree I had made with prims. And it was something I had never encountered before. It is on a full sim that is in my name so it really is strange.

After work this evening I'll go in and see if the same thing happens. I put it down to a temporary glitch but now I'm wondering.

I spent ages landscaping, planting and refining hills and coastline. Then I logged on one day and all the land had shifted in height and shape. Plants were either floating in mid air or sitting on altered land textures. An oak tree looks very odd on sand instead of the grass where I left it!. I had to start again.

I've had sky builds bork on their own. My sky house shifts around by not much, but it does.

This happened recently to a large area in my sim...the land dropped about a meter.

We can't be sure it was an SL glitch or an unnoticed terraforming error, though. LL chose to treat it as the latter. My support ticket came back as follows (paraphrased slightly):

"We have solved your problem.

"Linden Lab does not roll back regions to correct resident errors. Thank you and have a nice day."

Maybe it's related to this incident :

hmmmmmmm - so maybe the other day when I logged on and our whole homestead was up at 100 m (instead of the 21 it was before) and there was a square dip in the ground, that it might not have been a human force, but Mother Nature taking revenge?

It was sure fun placing everything out again, since 3/4 of the stuff on the sim was returned because it went off world. I lost "only" two items.

And yes, we do now have the perms set right on the land because I have itm been able to deed the land to the group so that both of us can terraform.
