I have tried to search the archives for the answer to this to no avail. Can someone please explain the difference between deeding land to a group and setting land to a group?

Thank you!

Deeding makes the group the owner of the land, and enables all the functions of group roles that relate to land ownership.

Setting land to a group only affects minor functions like autoreturn. The parcel owner is still whoever bought the land. Malls often use land set to a group so people in their vending goup can place items there that won't get auto-returned. But the mall owner is still owner of the land.

So if I have security for my club and I want to give the officers the ability to eject and ban people, setting the land to the group won't work? I have to deed?

I believe that uis correct, yes. Any group role function that on individually owned parcels would be something only the parcel owner can do would require the land being deeded to the group for those permitted role actions to work on group land. Just settig the land to group isn't enough.
